Cause of Commander Drive fire remains under investigation
The cause of a fire Saturday afternoon in a building on Commander Drive in Winkler remains under investigation.
That from Winkler Fire Department Chief Richard Paetzold who told PembinaValleyOnline the fire was located in the dust collection system of a wood working facility.
The call came in Saturday at 12:24pm.
According to Paetzold, when crews arrived, they found the fire had spread to part of the facility's interior. Firefighters acted quickly and extinguished the flames

Seven homes destroyed by fire on Manitoba First Nation, community's leadership says
A wildfire in northern Manitoba has destroyed seven homes in a day the chief and council of the local First Nation are calling "horrendous."
Officials of Tataskweyak Cree Nation say in a Facebook post that a fire that ignited northwest of the community on Friday was fanned by strong winds, and that approximately 175 residents have been evacuated east to Gillam, Man.
Tataskweyak was evacuated earlier in the fire season and had lifted the order in mid-June, but then had to push back the date when people could return due to problems with its water system.

The funeral service for Stephen Braun will be held Thursday, 11am at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield Street N, Winnipeg.
