The Liberals have won their fourth mandate this time under the leadership of leader Mark Carney.
When Mark Carney formed government as Canada's 24th Prime Minister on March 14, 2025, he selected 34-year-old Kody Blois from the Kings-Hants riding in Nova Scotia as the Federal Minister for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and Rural Economic Development.
Blois is heading back to Parliament after winning his riding last night. Expectations are that Carney could keep him in that role, but that will be determined when he announces his new cabinet in the days ahead.

In his concession speech on election night, Poilievre pledged that Conservatives will "do our constitutional duty of holding government to account and proposing better alternatives."

A memorial service for Edwin Klassen will be held Friday, 11am at Grace Mennonite Church, Winkler with ash interment.

Liberals win 4th mandate as NDP vote collapses and Singh announces he will resign
Prime Minister Mark Carney promised to unite the country and govern for all after Canadians handed the Liberals a fourth consecutive mandate in Monday's federal election.
"Who is ready," he shouted to cheers and applause and people chanting his name in a crowded hockey arena in Ottawa in the wee hours of the morning. "Who is ready? Who is ready to stand up for Canada with me? And who is ready to build Canada strong?"
Liberals projected to finish just short of a majority after very close election race
Prime Minister Mark Carney will lead a minority government after a very close general election race that left the Liberals just three seats shy of a majority.
Just before 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Elections Canada showed the Liberals projected to win 169 ridings after flipping one riding in Quebec from the Bloc Québécois earlier in the day.
The Conservatives won 144 seats and will form the official Opposition again. The Bloc Québécois followed with 22 seats, the NDP with seven projected seats and the Green Party with one seat.

Manitoba's Premier says the strain mental health calls are having on police departments is a concern he continues to hear a lot about.
Wab Kinew made the comment after a PembinaValleyOnline story earlier this month where Altona's Chief of Police renewed calls for the province to bring its Institutional Safety Officer (ISO) program to the region in order help agencies, like his, manage the human resource obligation of these calls. According to Dan Defer, members of the Altona Police Service spent around 70 hours on three such calls for service that week alone.

GVSD fleet gets a new wheelchair bus
Monday, April 14th saw the addition of a new wheelchair bus to the Garden Valley School Division fleet of transportation.
Transportation Supervisor Angela Plett shared that, for her, the bus is exciting and new, boasting a modular seat system in the back of the bus that the previous wheelchair bus didn’t have.
