Morden’s Colleen Voth off to Berlin for 2023 Special Olympics World Games
Months of training and practice have all led to this moment for Morden’s Colleen Voth... getting on a plane this weekend to begin her journey to Berlin, Germany and the 2023 Special Olympics World Games. Taking place June 17th to 25th, the event will bring together 7,000 athletes from about 170 countries, including 89 from Team Canada. Voth now calls Morden home, but is originally from Altona.
Charge laid in fatal December collision south of Roland
RCMP have laid a charge in relation to a two-vehicle fatal collision which happened December 9th of last year about three kilometers south of Roland.
A 26-year-old woman from Reinfeld died in the collision.
A 62-year-old Winkler man has received a summons for Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death.
He is scheduled to appear in Morden Court June 27th.
Investigations underway regarding separate Pride related vandalism incidents
Winkler and Morden Police Services are investigating separate incidents related to the vandalism of a Pride-supporting vehicle and a Pride flag.
In Winkler, police say an investigation continues into a homophobic slur being spray painted on the tailgate of a white Dodge Caravan that was parked in a residential area of the city. The vehicle was decorated in support of Pride Month. According to police, the incident occurred sometime overnight between June 4th and 5th. Anyone with knowledge of the incident is asked to contact police.

Scattered thunderstorms kept our Rainwatchers busy Sunday. A cold front moving through the Red River Valley and Southeastern Manitoba was the focus for storm initiation, which did lead to severe thunderstorm watches and warnings being issued in a couple places, including the Winkler and Morden area mid-afternoon.
UPDATE - Male sent to hospital with serious injuries after vehicle/bicycle collision on Winkler's 1st Street
Highway 32 in Winkler, between Cargill Road and Roblin Boulevard, remains closed as an investigation is now underway after what social media posts by Winkler Police Service describe as a "serious collision".
Police Chief Ryan Hunt tells PembinaValleyOnline officers responded to the incident, and determined a vehicle travelling on 1st Street (Highway 32) collided with a male riding a bicycle across the street.
The injured male bicyclist was transported to Boundary Trails Health Centre with serious injuries.

Brief dust storm ushers in cooler Wednesday afternoon temperatures
After several days of well above average temperatures, Southern Manitoba will see highs sink throughout Wednesday afternoon as a cold front moves through the province as an Alberta clipper brings showers and potential thunderstorms to the region.
"As that cold front moved through, we saw westerly gusts of 60 km/h or more, and that quickly picked up the dust," explained CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner.
