Five different players hit home runs and the Regina Red Sox outscored the Moose Jaw Miller Express 17-13 in front of 777 fans at Ross Wells Park last night.

And, while the Millers have clinched a playoff spot, it's not yet clear if they'll finish 3rd or 4th in the east division. They're one game behind the 3rd place Saskatoon Berries and that's the team they'll play tonight in Saskatoon with the same two teams playing in Moose Jaw tomorrow night.

Former MLA for Lumsden-Morse, Lyle Stewart died yesterday after a battle with cancer.

Stewart served as a Saskatchewan Party MLA for almost 24 years, first being elected to office in 1999 and retiring last year for health reasons. He was re-elected five times over his political career.

Aside from being the MLA for Thunder Creek and Lumsden-Morse, he was also the Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Enterprise and Innovation, and Provincial Secretary, and was interim leader of the Saskatchewan Party and Leader of the Opposition briefly in 2004. 

Between them, Dr. Sesan Banjo and Dr. Omojomi Banjo have four degrees in dentistry.

In 2009, Dr. Sesan Banjo graduated followed quickly by his brother, Dr. Omojomi Banjo, in 2012 in Nigeria, where they were born and where they practiced a few years before moving to Canada. Having completed graduate studies at the University of Saskatchewan, they then enrolled in the dentistry program at the University of Manitoba, where they graduated a second time in 2020.

“I was certified twice,” muses Dr. Sesan. “Doing it all over again, you just get better at what you do.”

The Moose Jaw Miller Express are at home tonight at Ross Wells to take on the east division leading Regina Red Sox. The Red Sox have won three straight. Game time 7 o'clock.

Rambler Park Fastball tonight at Memorial Field with the visiting Wynyard Blues playing games against the Moose Jaw Canadians and Moose Jaw Giants. The Canadians hit the field at 7:15, with the Giants to follow at 9:15. 

The Toronto Blue Jays split a double-header with the Baltimore Orioles yesterday, losing 11-5 in the first game but bouncing back for an 8-4 win in the night cap.

In Western Canadian Baseball, the Moose Jaw Miller Express beat the Swift Current 57s 12-1 on Friday but fell 11-7 to the league-leading Regina Red Sox on Saturday. The Miller Express next play at Ross Wells tomorrow against the Red Sox. 

Rambler Park Fastball tomorrow will see the Moose Jaw Canadians and Moose Jaw Giants face off against the Wynyard Blues at Memorial Field. The Canadians will start things off at 7:15, with the Giants to follow at 9:15. 

Major League Baseball last night, the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Texas Rangers 7-3.

Monday, July 29 will see outages in Kincaid and rural areas north of Kincaid to the north of Highway 43, as well as Glenbain from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Tuesday, July 30 will see outages southeast of Tuxford along Highway 2 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

After an incident on Friday evening, a 21-year-old man will appear in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on Monday, July 29, facing a charge of Aggravated Assault.  

Police say they responded to a call for a man with stab wounds at 6:37 p.m. on Friday, with the man being transported to hospital with non-life-threatening but serious injuries.  

They add that both men were known to one another.

Following an incident on Wednesday that saw the Highway 2 overpass struck by a track hoe on a semi-truck, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways says repairs are needed. 

While the repair cost is still not known, work on the northbound overpass is getting underway and will require a minimum of four weeks. The Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways said the southbound overpass is still being evaluated to see if repairs are needed. 

The Lethbridge Bulls came from behind, scoring 3 runs in the 8th inning and beat the Moose Jaw Miller Express 7-6 in Western Canadian Baseball League action. The Millers are back in Moose Jaw tonight, taking on the Swift Current 57s at Ross Wells Park.

The Millers then head to Regina tomorrow to face the 1st place Red Sox.

Tonight sees the Moose Jaw Canucks 18U against the Saskatoon A's.

In Major League Baseball, the Toronto Blue Jays were shutout by the Tampa Bay Rays, 13-0.
