Sports Round-Up: Monday, June 17
The Moose Jaw Miller Express dropped a 6-1 decision to the Medicine Hat Mavericks yesterday - this after suffering a 13-12 loss to the Mavericks on Saturday. The Millers now 10 and 10 on the season. Their next game is at home - Wednesday against the Mavericks.
The Moose Jaw Canucks AAA 18U lost a pair of games to the Saskatoon Cubs on Sunday, 9-6 and 12-7. They next play the Parkland Expos at Jubilee Park tomorrow evening.
Jody Oakes no longer working for John Howard Society of Moose Jaw
The John Howard Society of Saskatchewan has confirmed that Jody Oakes is no longer employed with the organization - they did not offer any detail or comment on the possible reasons for the development.
Oakes was the manager of justice programming and branch services at the John Howard Society of Moose Jaw.

The Moose Jaw Miller Express beat the 57s in Swift Current last night 8-1 in Western Canadian Baseball League action.
Wyatt Tweet and Owen Robbins both went 2 for 5 at the plate with two RBI apiece. The Express are at home tonight taking on the Regina Red Sox. The Red Sox defeated the Weyburn Beavers 12-6 last night.
The 15U AAA Canucks are up against the White Butte Broncos tonight at Serbu Park.
The Moose Jaw Canucks 18U play the Regina Buffalos tonight, with the Canucks currently sitting with a 10-10-1 record.

Rob- Summer recreation opportunities with Parks and Rec. Let’s talk about that.
Maryse- It is time to get out there and be active and enjoy the trails, the outdoor pool, the outdoor pool that just opened on the 10th of June. So, it is there, and lots of programs for kids, for youth. I invite everyone to go on the app or on the website and to have a look at the details of everything that’s available.
Take 5 - Biannual City Meeting
Rob- Maryse Carmichael is the city manager with the City of Moose Jaw on Take 5 with Carnie and Carmichael.
One more thing I think we should touch on, that is a City of Moose Jaw employee town hall that was recently held. Tell us about that, (you) held it at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. How was the attendance and what were the topics that we dealt with?
Take 5 - Tourism in Moose Jaw
Rob- Sidewalk Days is coming up, of course, and tourism season in full swing here in Moose Jaw. You mentioned the Hometown Fair Parade coming right up. Some great numbers released by Tourism Moose Jaw recently.
Maryse- Yes, and we see it. It’s vibrant, it’s busy downtown. It was just confirmed by Moose Jaw Tourism, where they’ve had a very successful year in 2023.

The Moose Jaw Miller Express outscored the Beavers in Weyburn last night 10-7 in Western Canadian Baseball League action.
Shortstop Thomas Soto went three-for-four with two RBI and three runs scored.
The Express next face the Swift Current 57s tonight at Mitchell Field. The Millers' next home game is tomorrow night against the Regina Red Sox, who beat Swift Current 17-12 last night.
In Rambler Park Fastball League action, the Moose Jaw Giants fell to the Earl Grey Rockets 9-8. The Moose Jaw Canadians then beat the Rockets 10-3.

Rambler Park Fastball League action at Memorial Field tonight - it's the Moose Jaw Giants and the Moose Jaw Canadians playing the Earl Grey Rockets. The Giants are on the field at 7 p.m., with the Canadians to follow at 9 p.m.
Major League Baseball last night saw the Toronto Blue Jays fall 3-1 to the Milwaulkee Brewers.
