Community is more than just a group of people living in proximity; it is a network of support, belonging, and shared experiences that can profoundly impact quality of life. For those with intellectual disabilities, a strong, inclusive community is not just beneficial—it is essential.

Fostering a Sense of Belonging

Rob Carnie: Let’s touch on Souls Harbor. They operate the Riverside Mission in Moose Jaw. Let’s clarify where we are with that whole situation.  

As most people know, they want to build a new facility and get out of the old decrepit facility they have on Manitoba Street. Where are we at with that situation? 

Rob Carnie: It's another edition of Take 5 with Carnie and Carmichael featuring Moose Jaw City Manager, Maryse Carmichael. Let's start with a #notoriously active Fall and Winter Rec Guide. I hate to say fall and winter in August, Maryse, but here we are, and the Rec Guide is out, and lots of opportunities for local people, local families to get involved across the City of Moose Jaw at all our great facilities. 

Back in 2022, Bob Giesbrecht and Randy Reimer travelled to Cavango, Angola, with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) to construct an airstrip that would give locals better access to essential supplies and healthcare. Knowing how much of a difference it made in many peoples’ lives, they returned earlier this year to offer further aid. 

Giesbrecht and Reimer grew up on the same Steinbach street. Little did they know that their friendship, and the games they played as children, would one day provide a lifeline for tens of thousands of people half a world away. 

For nearly 40 years, Community Futures has been promoting, advising and investing in the business ventures that are so important to the towns and small cities of southwest Saskatchewan. 

Whether you’re volunteering or coming as a guest, you’re sure to have a great weekend at the 2024 Hanover Ag Fair!  

Souris Family Pharmacy celebrates one year in business this month! Pharmacy Operator, Matthew Walliser says it’s been a great year, full of fantastic people supporting them from day one.

“It’s been a really positive experience,” Walliser shares. “People are genuinely interested in knowing how things are going, and wanting to support us.”

The goal at Souris Family Pharmacy is to provide individualized care.
