The City of Grande Prairie is hosting the kick-off to summer for the second year in a row with the Here Comes Summer event in Muskoseepi Park on Friday, June 7 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Get into summer fun with the following activities at the Here Comes Summer event:

·Free swimming at the Aquatera Outdoor Pool season opener from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., sponsored by Aquatera Utilities Inc.

·Free community barbecue.

·Outdoor games with prizes.

·Roaming entertainment.

·Roller skating demonstrations.

Former Newsboys guitarist makes top 5 on The Voice

Bryan Olesen is moving on to the final round of Season 25 of The Voice.

The voters chose Karen Waldrup, Nathan Chester, Josh Sanders and Asher HaVon to advance to the finals of the popular competition. 

The remaining singers had to perform a last-chance song to win the Instant Save vote and the final spot in the finals.  

The former Newsboys guitarist and worship pastor at Lincoln Berean performed Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida' and took the fifth spot. 

Skillet band member prepares to welcome new baby

The lead guitarist of a popular Christian rock band made an exciting announcement this week. 

On Monday, Seth Morrison announced that he and his wife, Hilary, are expecting a baby this summer. 

"Baby boy Morrison coming in July!" said Seth in a post on Instagram. "What a blessing and honour that God has entrusted Hilary and I with."

Civil society at ‘high risk’ of cyberthreats from state-sponsored actors: CSE

Canada's cyberspy agency says countries like Russia and China are increasingly targeting non-profit and advocacy groups, as well as journalists and human rights activists.

The Communications Security Establishment issued the warning Tuesday in a joint advisory with the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Estonia and Finland.

The advisory says "industry reporting indicates a consistent pattern of state-sponsored cyber actors targeting specific segments of civil society."

'It came from the sky': Saskatchewan farmer finds hunk of space junk in field

Barry Sawchuk doesn’t usually concern himself with space or the final frontier.

The 66-year-old Saskatchewan farmer is much more focused on seeding.

But when he found a giant piece of debris in his fields, Sawchuk said he was shocked to learn it was likely part of a rocket.

“Not every day you go out in your field and find space junk,” Sawchuk said with a laugh in an interview from the front seat of his tractor.

Gaza's Christian presence dwindles following 7 months of Israel-Hamas war

At Easter, Gaza Baptist Church leader Shady Al-Najjar described those sheltered in the church’s remnants as “too tired to suffer,” living “very difficult” and “useless” days.

Al-Najjar has since fled to Egypt, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have set up shop in what remains of the church compound damaged in the war, former church pastor Hanna Massad told Baptist Press on May 8.
