Cereals Canada has released a series of sustainability reports for Canadian non-durum wheat, durum wheat, barley, and oats to demonstrate how the cereals value chain is meeting the challenge of sustainable cereal production.
“Canada is a global leader in the production of high-quality, nutritious, and sustainable cereal grains,” said Mark Walker, vice-president of markets and trade. “These reports confirm that Canadian farmers grow some of the most sustainable crops in the world.”

Ottawa man, 31, charged after Parliament Hill lockdown
Police say they've charged a 31-year-old Ottawa man with several offences following an incident that placed an area of Parliament Hill under lockdown on Saturday.
Ottawa police said in a media statement Sunday that a man entered East Block in downtown Ottawa at 2:40 p.m. Saturday and started issuing threats to those inside.
Security officials isolated the man in a security screening area while police evacuated the building, which mostly houses offices for senators and their staff.
Police said the man surrendered peacefully after hours of negotiations.

Job data in Saskatchewan shows province holds lowest unemployment figures in the country
Jobs in Saskatchewan show that the province is remaining resilient in the face of economic challenges, with an unemployment rate which is the lowest among all provinces.
The latest numbers from Statistics Canada's labour force show that 19,800 jobs were added year over year in March, giving the province a nation-leading 3.4 per cent job growth rate. The province also boasted the lowest unemployment rate, at 4.9 per cent, which is below the national average of 6.7 percent.
Regina police chief removed from active duty pending complaint investigation
Regina's police chief has been temporarily removed from active duty pending the results of an investigation by the Saskatchewan Public Complaints Commission.
The Regina Board of Police Commissioners says a complaint filed by a community member against Farooq Sheikh is under review.
Chairperson Yashu Bither didn't provide details but says the commission takes the complaint seriously and has a duty to protect public confidence in the police service during the investigation.
Police investigate scams, suspicious activity and threats
Estevan Police Service responded to a range of incidents over a recent two-day period, including fraud attempts, suspicious activity and disturbance complaints.
On April 1, police attended a convenience store on the west side of the city to investigate a report of a possible theft. The investigation determined that no theft had occurred, and the report was unfounded.
Police were also called to assist a homeowner in removing an unwanted guest. The individual left without incident upon officers' arrival.
