Seeding season ends with good growing conditions in the southeast
With seeding more or less completed in the southeast, farmers are now moving onto the growing stage, where they'll watch and wait while their crops grow over the year. The next few months will still be busy, as farmers will be preoccupied with spraying, scouting, and getting ready for the harvest.
In the meantime farmers are watching closely for any rain falling over the next few weeks, though Agrologist Edgar Hammermeister says a big rain earlier in May gives them a bit more time to get those rains in.

An Estevan family is seeking community support to help their four-year-old daughter, Aubrey Dyck, gain the ability to walk independently.
Aubrey has never walked on her own due to extremely tight achilles tendons, which force her to move on her knees or tiptoes. Despite years of testing and therapy, doctors in Canada have been unable to determine a solution.
“She has crazy amounts of strength for how tiny she is,” said Tanner Dyck, Aubrey’s father. “But she just can’t get around without being on her tiptoes.”

Understanding wind all about the force
One of the contributors to wind is the Coriolis force. The Coriolis force arises from the fact that the Earth rotates. | Photo: File
Last issue, we talked about how the pressure gradient force is the main driving force of wind in our atmosphere and that it exists due to the unequal heating of the Earth’s surface.
Now, if we were to take a simple look at the Earth, this would mean that the polar regions would have high pressure because they are cold and the equatorial regions would be areas of low pressure because they are warm.

Virtual physician program comes to another southeast community
Access to emergency medical care in Arcola is getting a boost thanks to the expansion of the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s Virtual Physician Program.
