Saskatchewan RCMP advising people to take caution with winter conditions on roads
The Saskatchewan RCMP are sending out an advisory to the public that winter weather is impacting road conditions throughout Saskatchewan.
Currently, systems around the Saskatoon area have been impacting travel, with many roads closed in that part of the province. The weather is expected to shift partially into the southeast later this morning and afternoon.
The following factors are impacting road conditions and/or visibility:

Sask. retains spot as third-fastest growing in building permits in Statistics Canada data
Statistics Canada has released a new set of data which shows that Saskatchewan is continuing on its path forward for growing value in building permits, which had a 78.7 per cent increase from January 2024 compared to January 2025 (seasonally adjusted).
The figure would place Saskatchewan third among the provinces for year-over-year growth. Saskatchewan has kept that figure going over the last few months in what has been a consistent performance among the provinces for growth in the value of building permits.
Estevan Sharks ride wave of success into provincials
The Estevan Sharks water polo teams are making waves as they approach the end of a standout season, with strong performances at tournaments and big goals for provincials later this month.
Paul Chabot, coach of the U9 water polo team, said the club found success at a recent competition, with one of Estevan’s two teams placing first and the other finishing third.
Canadian officials say meeting with U.S. commerce secretary was constructive
Canadian officials said a Thursday meeting with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick was constructive and lowered temperatures amid the ongoing trade war launched by U.S. President Donald Trump last month — but they expected no immediate changes to punishing tariffs.
"This was a constructive discussion," said Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne in Washington. "We have our disagreements, but as long as you have dialogue you are making progress."
Mark Carney set to become prime minister and name his cabinet this morning
Mark Carney will be sworn in as prime minister this morning at Rideau Hall, where he will also reveal his new cabinet.
Carney won the Liberal leadership race last weekend with an overwhelming 86 per cent of the votes from Liberal members.
He officially takes over from Justin Trudeau as prime minister in today's ceremony.
His first cabinet is expected to be smaller than Trudeau's 37-member team, and some ministers are set to lose their positions.
"Invitation to negotiate": China imposing 100% tariffs on Canadian peas

Midale Central School posted an alert on Facebook earlier this week as they're hoping to convince people to slow down near school buses. That's an emerging problem, where they've seen more people ignore the signs telling them to slow down over the last while.

Southeast RCMP looking for info following string of break-and-enters in Fillmore
A southeast RCMP detachment is hoping for more info following a series of break-and-enters into a home earlier this week.
Overnight on March 11, 2025, several cars, garden sheds, and garages were entered and items taken in the Village of Fillmore.
The RCMP is asking people to keep an eye out for the individuals in the pictures they have shared.
