Mobile MRI unit expected to speed up wait times in Regina and southern Saskatchewan

While the southeast is currently undergoing an MRI project at St. Joseph's Hospital, a provincial resource has expanded MRI coverage in Saskatchewan.

The province announced yesterday that a mobile Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit is coming to the Regina General Hospital.

The province invested $2.4 million towards the machine, which arrived at the hospital in mid-June.

Team Southeast swimming team ready for the Sask. Summer Games

It's been 8 years since the last Saskatchewan Summer Games and athletes throughout the southeast are amped to be back to compete. 

"I'm excited for the swimmers. I mean, this is a great opportunity for them. It's not something that comes around often. It's actually been eight years since we've actually had the swimming competition, so there's a lot of new faces, a lot of rookies in a way. So, we're just kind of all navigating it together," shared Erin Wilson, the southeast district's swimming head coach. 

FPT Ag Ministers meet in the Yukon

The Federal, Provincial, and Territorial Agriculture Ministers are holding their annual conference in Whitehorse.

Manitoba's Agriculture Minister, Ron Kostyshyn, wants to see a discussion around Trade and Market Access.

Kostyshyn says he's very concerned about Voluntary Country of Origin Labelling, and believes this could seriously affect pork  exports to the United States.
 
Manitoba is the largest pig-producing province in Canada, and is the largest exporter of weanlings into the United States.

Jody Waloshin Softball Diamonds unveiled at U13 Provincial Softball Tournament

The U13 provincials were held this past weekend at the newly renamed Jody Waloshin Softball Diamonds. The new name was announced during the opening ceremonies on Friday. Waloshin expressed surprise and gratitude, noting that the success was due to the support of many volunteers.

Canola blast is starting to show up with the heat

There's a real concern about the potential impact on canola crops at the flowering stage.

RCMP looking for info on stolen truck following chase

The RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in locating and identifying an individual who stole a truck and debit card and led police on a pursuit.

On July 16th at 7:20 A.M. the suspect attended Petro Canada in Grenfell in a Black GMC Duramax with the Saskatchewan licence plate 237 LIQ, that was stolen from Virden, Manitoba yesterday.

RM pledges $200,000 donation to St. Joseph's Hospital's MRI project

A $200,000 donation is going to the MRI project at St. Joseph's Hospital, which will help out one southeast RM who is making the donation.

The RM of Souris Valley announced they would make the donation which will come in the form of  $100,000 this year and $100,000 next year.

Reeve Glenn Walkeden says that the community wanted to see some support for the project.

Food, shelter costs rise as Saskatchewan inflation remains unchanged

The latest inflation data was released by Statistics Canada Tuesday morning.  

The numbers showed the overall consumer rate index in Saskatchewan, or CPI held steady in June at 1.43 percent. While the overall number remained unchanged from the previous month, some numbers did have changes. Some of the biggest changes outside of the energy sector came with food and shelter, which were up 3.68 percent and 3.72 percent respectively.

While photographing this bear, it was very cautious and always kept an eye on us. We kept our distance and were inside a vehicle as always, we never want to cause any stress on the animals we photograph. 

It's amazing how they will just go about their business but know exactly where you are and what you're doing the entire time. This particular bear was just enjoying the dandelions and sunshine.
