Parole board 'working' to have Bernardo victims' families attend hearing in-person
The Parole Board of Canada says it is now working to allow victims’ families to attend Paul Bernardo's parole hearing and deliver their victim impact statements in person.
A lawyer representing the families of two teenage girls murdered by notorious killer and serial rapist Paul Bernardo said they had been denied the right to deliver their statements in person at Bernardo's upcoming parole hearing. The issue was raised by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre during question period in the House of Commons Wednesday.
New Chamber CEO unveiled to be well known Swift Current local
The Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce has unveiled its new CEO.
Corla Rokochy has been appointed to the role of CEO for the Chamber. The long-time resident of Swift Current was previously serving as the program director at the Swift Current Museum.
In the release from the Chamber, Rokochy was described as "a passionate advocate for community development and an experienced leader with a background in business management, program development, and community engagement,".

How much snowfall did the southwest and Saskatchewan collect?
Southwestern Saskatchewan missed out on some heavy snowfall totals from yesterday's storm.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the region collected trace amounts to just over 5 centimetres which pales in comparison to the central and south-central parts of Saskatchewan.
Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist Danielle Desjardins said snowfall amounts peaked in the Melfort and Humboldt area with roughly 40 centimetres.
Swift Current City RCMP to begin filming as body cams roll out
Swift Current City RCMP members will be amongst other front-line officers taking part in the provincial rollout of body cameras.
These cameras will be in use when an officer executes the law. They must be activated by the officer for recording and will be visible to citizens.
Swift Current City RCMP Staff Seargent, Evan Gordon, confirmed that they will be part of this initiative, although they are not involved in phase one.
Seasoned Swift Current artist set to speak at the AGSC's Art for Lunch
The Art Gallery of Swift Current recently announced the launch of a brand-new artist talk series they'll be hosting called Art for Lunch.
Swift Current's own Hugh Henry will be featured at the very first Art for Lunch coming up on November 26 during noon hour.
Luke Maddaford, curator of exhibitions and programming at the Art Gallery of Swift Current, noted that Art for Lunch will be an ideal opportunity to learn about the ideas behind the artwork and the process while showcasing local artists.
