SaskPower files appeal to fines related to deaths of two Weyburn workers
One month ago, SaskPower was fined $840 000 regarding the death of Weyburn workers in October of 2020. The two 19-year journeypersons, Scott Bill and Cole Crooks, fell to their deaths while working in the city due to a faulty bucket truck and failure to enforce the use of safety harnesses. SaskPower was found guilty of three charges related to workplace safety violations.
SaskPower has now filed an appeal to the charges confirmed in a statement sent by the corporation.
CRA implements fines for failure to file taxes online
As tax season approaches for most Saskatchewan residents, frustration is mounting for some due to changes introduced by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Bail report ordered for driver in fatal rollover
A 26-year-old man charged after a fatal rollover on Main Street earlier this month made another appearance in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on Wednesday.
Tyrel Cronan appeared via video from the Regina Correctional Centre and was represented in court by lawyer Merv Nidesh.
Nidesh asked that a bail report be issued for the availability of GPS or electronic monitoring and asked for an adjournment to Dec. 2.

Local musician Darian Folks has released another single, with an interesting development story behind it.
The song is titled 'Drop of Time'. Folks has it out on streaming platforms and has a unique tale to tell for its creation.
To start, he was originally trying to make up a small song for his social media. To be clear, that was what he was posting, himself making a simple song.
"I was in the studio doing an Instagram video," said Folks. "And I just wanted to make a song. I just kind of played random tracks and it all just came together."
Hours adjusted at 35 Canadian border crossings, including Saskatchewan ports
As of 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 6, 2025, the hours of operation at 35 land ports of entry across Canada will be adjusted.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced the changes Monday, calling them a collaborative effort with the United States to enhance security for both countries. The CBSA said the adjustments would also help allocate resources more efficiently by concentrating officers at busier ports of entry. This is expected to improve the processing of travellers and goods while bolstering enforcement activities.
