CAA Manitoba highlight risks of cannabis-impaired driving
Ahead of the 4/20 weekend, CAA Manitoba is reminding drivers to make safe, informed choices – to not get behind the wheel while impaired.
In doing so, CAA Manitoba has released new findings on cannabis-impaired driving in Manitoba.
Some of the key findings include:
Fusion announces $1.26M member returns through patronage and cash Pay-outs
As a member-owned financial institution, Fusion believes that success should be shared. At the Annual General Meeting held last evening via webcast conference, Fusion announced a $1.26 million return to members in the form of patronage allocations and cash pay-outs to select members. The $1.26 million in total returns for 2025, based on 2024 results, includes a patronage allocation of $800,000, plus an estimated $468,000 in cash payouts to select members.

On April 15th at 10:00AM a 37-year-old female was located at her residence in the 600 block of 9th Street and arrested on the strength of an unendorsed Warrant of Arrest (Failure to Comply Probation). She was arrested, held in detention cells at Brandon Police Service (BPS) and attended court later that morning.

UPDATE: Multi-vehicle collision slowing down QEII traffic
A multi-vehicle collision was slowing down QEII northbound traffic near CrossIron Mills Mall, but has since been cleared.
According to reports, the multi-vehicle collision was causing long delays all the way into Calgary.
Traffic was also slow going southbound in the area as well.
Crews are no longer on the scene.

Police respond to traffic incidents, child safety reports, and ongoing cases in Estevan
Estevan police responded to a variety of calls this week, including motor vehicle collisions, child welfare concerns, suspicious activity, and ongoing investigations into threats and theft.
On April 15, the Estevan Police Service received a report of a two-vehicle collision in the north part of the city. Members attended and assisted with the exchange of driver information. No injuries were reported.
Saskatchewan budget targets safer communities with expanded policing, justice and corrections investments
The Saskatchewan government is committing more than $1 billion in the 2025-26 budget toward policing, corrections, justice, and public safety initiatives in an effort to build safer communities across the province.
The funding package includes $665 million for the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety, $271 million for the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General, $118.9 million for the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA), and $9.1 million for the Saskatchewan Firearms Office (SFO).
Lloydminster RCMP investigating early morning hit-and-run
Mounties are investigating a hit-and-run incident that left a man critically injured on the north side of Lloydminster earlier this week.
Lloydminster RCMP say they were called at 4:13 a.m. on April 15 to the area of Highway 17, just north of 52 Street, where they found an injured man at the scene.
Police confirmed Wednesday that the incident was a hit-and-run, and that the vehicle involved had been located the day prior. Investigators later determined the vehicle had been reported stolen before the collision took place.
Small gathering held in support of Fred Sandeski upon care home eviction
A small rally was held outside of the Weyburn Special Care Home yesterday afternoon for the eviction of Fred Sandeski from his room there. He had been living under the auspices of respite care since last fall.
In addition to media from Weyburn and Regina, a number of friends of Fred and his wife Teresa came out to show their support.
In spite of concerns raised by Teresa and other supporters about the level of care he will receive at home, the Saskatchewan Health Authority directed Fred Sandeski to return home, as he 'isn't sick enough' to be receiving long-term care.
