80s-themed fundraiser arriving in Strathmore
In just a few weeks it will be time to bust out the leg warmers and fanny packs.
Project H.O.P.E. is hosting 80s Night, a fundraiser at the Strathmore Civic Centre, on March 29.
Secretary Alaina Heming says that the organization serves all Golden Hills schools in Strathmore.
"We provide music therapy and adapted physical education to children with exceptionalities right in our community. Any kids living with down syndrome, autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and a variety of different challenges can be eligible for Project H.O.P.E.

Strathmore is going to host the 2025 U11AA provincial championships at the Strathmore Family Centre.
Jodi Koester, the U11AA provincial championship chair, will join us Wednesday at 7:40 a.m.
The event will run from March 27 to March 30.
Loose emu spotted near Strathmore, returned to local farm
A resident near Strathmore noticed a peculiar sight outside of their home in late February.
In a since-deleted social media post, the resident shared an image of an emu on their driveway. The post garnered a lot of attention, with many residents bewildered as to how an emu made its way near Strathmore.
On Feb. 25 it was announced that the emu was returned to its rightful owner, a zoo-farm hybrid located just outside of Strathmore.
KAP President Jill Verwey advocates for farmers as CFA’s new first Vice-President
Jill Verwey of Portage la Prairie has ascended to a prominent national role in Canadian agriculture, being named as the first vice-president of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) during its recent annual general meeting in Ottawa. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is scheduled to talk more about Canada's response, which will include tariffs on $155 billion worth of American goods, at 10:30 a.m. in Ottawa.

Cody Zebedee is the new fire chief in Chestermere.
"With over 24 years of extensive experience in fire service leadership, safety codes, and fire investigation, Chief Zebedee brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Chestermere Fire Department," wrote the city in a news release.
Zebedee started his career in High River as a firefighter in 1997.

Lil Hoots owner steps away as store under new ownership
After opening and running Hoots Family Consignment for the last five years, Denise Geremia has stepped down as owner after selling the store.
Geremia had her final day on Feb. 28 before handing the keys to the new owners, Ashleigh and Debbie Enslen.
