From Souris to around the world, Rugby star Emily Tuttosi living her dream - Part 1
Growing up in Souris, Emily Tuttosi loved rugby, and the star has taken that love of the game around the world, and is representing Canada at the 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup.
Starting in Souris
Going back to the beginning of her journey, Tuttosi can't remember a time where she didn't love the game of rugby. "Thankfully, Souris school had a youth rugby program," she says with a smile. "My older brother played, and I have a twin sister, and we both were pretty aggressive, so it seemed like a good sport to try. 20-some years later, here I am."
Volleyball star Paiton Stoesz thrilled to be with Taika, part of big fundraiser today
From the start of her volleyball career to now, 15-year-old Paiton Stoesz may have come to the sport a little later, but with her talent, competitiveness and love of the game, she continues to be a star.
From the ice to the court
Starting in sports, Stoesz says she actually started in a very different sport from the one she plays now. "I started off by playing hockey," the La Broquerie product says with her trademark smile. "In the winter of 2022/23, I decided to quit hockey and really focus on volleyball."

Swift Current team takes bronze in 55+ Games Slo-Pitch
It was a marathon and not a sprint for the Wrinkled Warriors.
The Swift Current based Slo-Pitch team won bronze at the Saskatchewan Senior Fitness 55+ Provincial Games in Swift Current.
"It was a lot of ball, a lot of heat, and a lot of fun," said Warriors player Rob Myers. "We had a great time."
They beat the Regina Ruckus 18-2 in the bronze medal game.
The Swift Current-based club went 0-3 on Day 1, falling10-4 to the Ruckus, 14-13 to the Saskatoon Silver Foxes, and 11-7 to the Saskatoon Red Aces.
Tuplin off to Texas to continue hockey career
Fresh off winning a bronze medal in the 400m hurdles at the Canada Summer Games, Swift Current's Carter Tuplin is off to Texas to start the next step of his junior hockey career.
Former Generals head coach joins Pittsburgh Penguins organization
Former Cochrane Generals head coach Evan McFeeters has landed a major step in his coaching career, joining the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins as their new roving minor league coach.
The Penguins announced Tuesday that McFeeters will work within the organization’s player development department, supporting the Penguins’ American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and their ECHL club in Wheeling. He’ll also work closely with the team’s development staff to help prospects grow both on and off the ice.
Estevan’s Kevin Culy represents Saskatchewan at National Baseball Championship
Estevan’s baseball community continues to shine on the national stage, thanks to the dedication of longtime umpire and mentor Kevin Culy. This summer, Culy traveled to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia to officiate at the 22U Baseball Canada Championship, marking his 10th national tournament appearance.
Pre-season preparations underway for high school football

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings are set to hit the ice this weekend for their main training camp, carrying the momentum from last season's run to the league finals. Head coach and general manager Cody Mapes is looking forward to seeing a competitive mix of returning veterans and new prospects battle for roster spots.
Mapes is eager to see his veteran players take on larger roles. He specifically pointed to the growth of the team's defensemen during the postseason.
