Gould leaves WHL for school, Broncos lose 1st round pick

The new NCAA eligibility rules have cost the Swift Current Broncos a significant asset again.

After losing captain Clarke Caswell to the University of Denver earlier this off season, forward Rylan Gould has decided to head to school early.

The veteran had committed to play for Michigan Tech in 2026-27 so Swift Current had traded him to Everett for a 2026 1st round WHL Prospect Draft pick.

Lanigan's Kyler Lone & Reese Stroeder named HCAA Scholarship recipients

Lanigan Central High School’s Kyler Lone and Reese Stroeder have been named this year recipients of the 2025 Horizon Central Athletic Association scholarships.  

Kyler has been accepted into the Kinesiology and Education Combined Degree Program at the University of Saskatchewan and plans to become a teacher and a coach of high school athletics. 

Broncos prepare for CHL Import Draft

The Swift Current Broncos look to Europe today as the Canadian Hockey League holds their annual import draft.

The draft has been expanded to three rounds this season as teams will now be able to carry three import players on their roster.

The Broncos could also potentially return forward William Morin and defenceman Marek Ročák.

Swift Current is looking to get back to drafting impact players in this draft.

Donovan Harkness Excited to Join Saskatoon Hilltops

A now graduated Moose Jaw Cyclone football player is moving on to the next level of his football career.

Donovan Harkness will become a member of the Saskatoon Hilltops of the Canadian Junior Football League. Even though Harkness played running back for most of his high school stint with the Cyclones, he will be joining the team as a wide receiver.

"I'm a little bit raw as a receiver, but I've had a great coach so far, and he has been helping me a whole bunch along the way, so it's just about time and progression," said Harkness.

Hamiota Collegiate's Rozdeba named MHSAA 'A' Athlete of the Year

Coming off a stellar athletic season across multiple sports, Chael Rozdeba of Hamiota Collegiate Institute was named Manitoba High School Athletic Association 'A' Athlete of the Year.

"It was super exciting," Rozdeba says of getting the news. "When I got the call, it was pretty surreal. I told my parents right away and the rest of my family. They were excited and super proud, it meant a lot."

Being a multi-sport athlete, Rozdeba says he can do it all. "I play hockey and baseball, I play volleyball as well as badminton."
