Terriers beat Winkler for the first time this season
A hard-fought game between the Portage Terriers and the Winkler Flyers ended with a 3-1 win for the Dogs.
A scoreless first period saw Portage outshoot Winkler 12-8 but both goaltenders made some outstanding saves to keep both offenses off the board.
The Flyers would open the scoring in the second period on a powerplay goal, but the Terriers would have a great shift right after to tie the game up. Decker Mujcin scored his fourth goal of the weekend, set up by Tristan Gravenor and Koy Funk.
Two Wildcats help Saskatchewan to a win at U18 nationals
Kolbee Ashe scored in overtime as Team Saskatchewan got off to a winning start at the U18 Women's National Championship in New Brunswick.
Rayna Hennie and Raela Packet of the Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats are playing for Saskatchewan at the event.
They both played a regular shift as Team Atlantic took a 1-0 lead into the final minutes of the third period.
Berlin Lolacher had Saskatchewan's other goal to force overtime.
They play the defending champions from Ontario Red as round robin continues on Monday at 8am.

Terriers see Winkler make their first trip to Stride Place for the season
After a seventh consecutive win on Friday night, the Portage Terriers will take on the Winkler Flyers in a matinee matchup on Sunday afternoon, November 3 at 3:30 p.m.
Winkler boasts a 10-5-0-0 record, and saw two players come away with league-wide player of the month awards, with Will Brophy taking home the Safe Work Manitoba Defenseman of the Month, and Liam Ernst winning the Original 16 Goaltender of the Month.
5 unanswered goals propel Pistons over Freeze
It was not the best two periods the Steinbach Pistons have played this year but the group managed to rally from being down 3-1 at one point to defeat the pesky Winnipeg Freeze 6-3, pushing their recent winning streak to 5 games.
Things seemed a little off early in the game for Steinbach. There wasn't the same urgency the night before that saw them take down the top team in the division.
Winnipeg managed to open the scoring despite being short handed, grabbing a 1-0 lead in front of a stunned crowd at the HyLife Centre.
Rebels bounce back against Lethbridge; seven-game road trip starts Monday
The Red Deer Rebels got back in the win column Saturday night with a 5-4 win over Lethbridge at Peavey Mart Centrium.
The Rebels hadn't played a game since losing to the Hurricanes 5-3 one week ago in Lethbridge.
The Hurricanes opened the scoring late in the first with a goal by Miguel Marques on the power play.
The Rebels would score four in the second period including goals by Beckett Hamilton, Matthew Gard, Carson Birnie (power play), and Talon Brigley taking a 4-3 lead into the final intermission.
Sask Hockey Hall of Fame helps two important causes
The Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame is bolstering two local causes after their summer 2024 induction dinner.
They're donating $22,246.26 to the Southwest Facility Foundation as well as the Swift Current Minor Hockey Association, both receiving $11,123.13.
Oilers conquer Crusaders for fourth win in five games
The Okotoks Oilers and the Sherwood Park Crusaders met for the first time this season tonight (Nov. 2), with the Green and Gold leaving the ice with a 5-4 win at Viking Rentals Centre.
While it was the first meeting in the 2024-2025 BCHL season, the Oilers and Crusaders know each other very well, as they both were in AJHL not even a year ago.
Red Wings down Klippers, take flight to top of SJHL standings
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings moved into first place overall in the SJHL Saturday night, and extended their point streak to 12 games, as they beat the Kindersley Klippers 3-2. The win also swept the weekend for the Wings, as they also won Friday night.
"We found a way," said defenseman Josh Karman. "I mean, at the end of the day, we didn't play our best at times, but we found a way to get a W both days."
Bisons take part deux in meeting with Flyers
Carstar Okotoks Bisons forward Sam Callahan continues to be a problem for teams around the HJHL, as he added two assists in the 5-1 win over the High River Flyers tonight (Nov. 2) at the Murray Arena.
It was the second meeting of the 2024-2025 HJHL season between the Foothills rivals, with the Herd now holding a 2-0 series lead over High River.
