Terriers plan to slow down the cold against Winnipeg Freeze

A back-to-back often provides teams with an opportunity to demonstrate who they really are. Tonight will be no different, despite coming in against the team suspected to be the weakest in the MJHL.

The Winnipeg Freeze have a single win against the Terriers so far in their 185-game history, an overtime victory against the Dogs at the Hockey For All Centre. The Terriers led the game with a minute to play, but a goal with the Freeze net empty tied things up, and Elliot Perreault scored 44 seconds into the extra frame to spoil the dogs perfect record against them.

Sports Update - Saturday, October 26th

The Tiger Hills Hockey League’s 2024-25 season got underway Friday night. Jeremy Johnson had two goals and an assist in the Virden Oil Kings 5-2 victory over Boissevain. Tanner Koroscil, Joel Cosens and Devon LeBlanc also scored for the Oil Kings. Tyler Dittmer and David Robertson replied for the Border Kings. Justin Minoletti scored twice to lead MacGregor past Carberry 4-1. Drew Anderson and Braden Nicoll also scored for the Wild. Nate Robson had the lone goal for the Plainsmen.

Sports Update - Saturday, October 26th

Steinbach Regional lost 72-0 to the defending champion Dakota Lancers Friday night in the Winnipeg High School Football League’s ANAVETS Bowl quarterfinal at Princess Auto Stadium. The Lancers, who led 49-0 at halftime, are the second ranked high school football team in the country. The Sabres finished the season with five wins and three losses and finished top eight in the province.

Ciarlo shines in Oilers third straight victory

Olivier Ciarlo has been stellar in his first season with the Okotoks Oilers, picking up his fourth win in five games with a 3-2 victory over the Cranbrook Bucks tonight (Oct. 25).

The Green and Gold have now won three games in a row and lead the season series against Cranbrook 2-1 after winning tonight on the road. The Oilers struggled on the road to start the season but have now won their past two road games. The Bucks were coming into the game with an 8-2-0 record and had only lost one game at home in the 2024-2025 BCHL season.

5 goal first more than enough as Pistons crush Titans

The Steinbach Pistons came out firing on Friday night, putting up a 5-goal opening period then cruising to a 6-0 victory over the Neepawa Titans.

Zach Burleigh was given the start for the Pistons, the 19-year-olds first since an October 13th overtime loss to the same Titans and in the first period, he was given a boost by the offence early and often.

Zol-id performance! Red Wings shut out Millionaires in goalie duel

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings extended their point streak to nine games Friday night, as they held off the Melville Millionaires for a 1-0 win. The victory bumps the Red Wings into third place in the SJHL, and they are tied with the Millionaires for the lead in the Viterra Division. 

The game could best be described as a goaltending showcase, with Weyburn goaltender Angelo Zol turning aside 34 shots for his first SJHL shutout. At the other end, Nick Genette would stop 33 of the 34 shots he saved en route to the win.

Estevan teams are gearing up for a busy weekend with volleyball, hockey, and water polo action. From the U18 AAA Bears' Saturday night game at Affinity Place to the U14 Oilers' league finals, local athletes are ready to compete.

The Elecs intermediate girls volleyball team is in Swift Current for their tournament.

PREVIEW | Warriors open BC trip in Kelowna on Friday

Kelowna, B.C. – The Moose Jaw Warriors have loaded up the bus and hit the road for five games in 11 days through the BC Division, which will start on Friday night against the Kelowna Rockets at Prospera Place.

The Warriors have struggled heading into the road trip, going winless in their last five games, but forward Owen Berge said the team is focused on getting back on track during the trip.
