P.D.R.A racing series returns to Flatlanders Speedway this weekend

Racing is back this weekend, August 16-17 just west of Kindersley at Flatlanders Speedway. Saturday's races start at 6:00 PM, Sunday at 1:00 PM, with more than just the regular competitors set to join the field.

The Prairie Dirt Racing Association will be part of the action, with the kidmod division, hobbystocks, streetstocks, and modifieds. Joining that will be the regular Flatlanders classes of run your junk, trucks, mini-sprints, and legends with points up for grabs in both competitions. 

Broncos Sign Versatile Forward Jacob Kulas for 2025–26 Season

The Humboldt Broncos are excited to announce the signing of forward Jacob Kulas in preparation for the upcoming 2025–26 season.

Kulas from Stow, Massachusetts is a 6’0″, 216 lb left-shooting forward whose combination of size and versatility make him a valuable addition to the lineup. He recently played for the Campbell River Storm in the VIJHL, where he’s demonstrated consistent offensive output. Over his last five games, Kulas contributed 2 goals and 3 assists, posting 5 points, and during his last ten games, he notched 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists).

Gulls steal game 1, one win away from WCBL Championship

The Sylvan Lake Gulls are one win away from their first-ever WCBL title after a thrilling 3-2, 11-inning victory over the Regina Red Sox in Game 1 of the championship series Thursday night at Currie Field in Regina.

Michael Quick lived up to his last name, stealing home in the top of the 11th inning to score the run and secure the win.

The Gulls now lead the best-of-three series 1-0 and can clinch the championship tonight in front of a home crowd at Gulls Field.

Cairns looks back on first junior golf title

The Portage Golf Club has crowned its 2025 champions, with 16-year-old Logan Cairns capturing his first Junior Boys title after a competitive weekend on the course.

Cairns says he went into the event with a solid shot at the win, knowing his main competition would be familiar faces.

The Portage junior field may be small, but it’s tight-knit. Cairns notes that being friends doesn’t dull the competitive edge.

Glass and Vigen are neck and neck heading into final races of the chuckwagon season this weekend

High River's Jason Glass and Calgary's Chanse Vigen are heading into the final weekend of the chuckwagon season, battling it out for the World Championship title this weekend.

Thursday night, Vigen came through with a blistering time of 1:12.76, setting a new track record and overtaking Glass in the World Standings by 3.5 points.

Whomever has the most points after Saturday night's heats will be declared the 2025 WPCA Champion.

They opened with a win!

The 13U AAA Provincial Champion Moose Jaw Canucks baseball team beat the host Chilliwack Cougars 8-7 last night. It was the first game of the Western Canadian Baseball Championship. Our boys play again this morning against the South Central Cubs.

Team Saskatchewan is still stuck on two medals at the Canada Summer Games in Newfoundland.
