Team Saskatchewan struck gold for the first time at the Canada Summer Games and it was a Moose Jaw athlete who did it!
Swimmer Leo Zheng from the local Flying Fins Club was tops in the Para Men’s 100 metre backstroke.
Regina’s Baer Robertson added to the Team Sask medal haul with a bronze in a 1,000 metre canoe race.

Berries record setting season halted by Red Sox
A record setting regular season ended in playoff disappointment on Tuesday night for the Saskatoon Berries. A 6-2 loss to the Regina Red Sox in the Western Canadian Baseball League's East Division final officially put Saskatoon's season to an end, as the Berries were unable to replicate their Round 1 performance against Moose Jaw where they rebounded from a series opening loss to advance to the next round.
Klippers pre-season starts August 29 in Drumheller
The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League announced it's pre-season schedule earlier this week, and the Kindersley Jr. Klippers will be on the ice before the calendar flips to September.
The Klippers will start their pre-season August 29 on the road against the Drumheller Dragons. After that game, Kindersley will leave the hoodoos and head north to Lloydminster on September 1 for a matinee against the Bobcats, coming home to Kindersley for a quick turnaround on September 2 against Humboldt.
Estevan Disc Golf enthusiast making waves on the provincial stage
Disc golf has been a fixture in Estevan for decades, but one local player is aiming to elevate the sport to new heights, both on the local course and in competitive play across Saskatchewan.
DeShawn “Patty Putts” Klassen recently returned to Estevan after years of playing in other communities, bringing with him a vision to grow the sport locally.
“I just want to point the city in the right direction and bring that outside community down to Estevan,” Klassen said.

Gulls gain home advantage in WCBL final after Red Sox upset Berries
The Sylvan Lake Gulls will hold home-field advantage in the Western Canadian Baseball League championship series after the Regina Red Sox pulled off a semifinal upset Tuesday night.
Regina downed the top-ranked Saskatoon Berries 6-2 in Game 3 of their best-of-three series, winning both contests on the road. The Berries had dominated the regular season, posting a franchise-best 46-9 record.
Kinsmen Minor Football need more bodies upfront
Moose Jaw Minor Football is sounding the alarm for one of the most vital positions on the field—the offensive and defensive linemen, affectionately known as “Hoggies.” These athletes are the backbone of every play, creating space for running backs and protecting quarterbacks from pressure. Without them, the game simply doesn’t function.

Brandon's Schoonbaert signs with Scotland's Dundee Stars
After spending the end of the season last year in Europe, Bradley Schoonbaert is heading back over the pond, signing with the Dundee Stars for the 2025-26 season.
"Going back to the UK, playing in the Elite Ice Hockey League with the Dundee Stars," Schoonbaert says with a smile. "They're based in Scotland, so it's pretty exciting."

It was an incredible tournament in Abbotsford, British Columbia for the Eastman Wildcats, as the group battled their way to a silver medal.
Special season for a special group
"Super proud of the team, super proud of the girls," coach Jason Plett says with a big smile. "With how far we came from when we started practicing in November, till this weekend, it's been amazing. They've taken big steps to get to this point, and they deserve every bit of that silver medal that they won."
