Why are we seeing so many northern lights?
The Northern Lights seem to be appearing more often than usual this year.
According to Roland Dechesne, an astronomer with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, there's a reason why we're seeing more of the aurora borealis.
"There has been a lot going on this year, and that's because the sun is in the most active portion of its 11-year solar cycle," said Dechesne.
Town of Nanton is having trouble with payments made through TD Bank
The Town of Nanton is having trouble with payments that are made through TD Bank.
They recently took to Facebook to inform residents that they are having issues when people are trying to pay a utility bill or make a tax payment through TD Bank's bill payment portal.
While the Town is receiving the money, and it is showing in the Town's account, they aren't being given proper notifications for the transactions and TD isn't able to provide the Town with the names of who made the payment.
5 million adults without primary care, surgeries returning to normal: CIHI report
A new report by the Canadian Institute for Health Information says 83 per cent of adults in this country have a regular primary-care provider, but that still leaves 5.4 million adults without one.
It says seniors 65 years and older are more likely to have access to a family doctor or nurse practitioner than younger adults between 18 and 34.
Access to primary care is highest in Ontario and lowest in Nunavut.
Foothills Bantam Eagles set for Division 1 playoff debut
The Foothills Bantam Eagles are set to play in their first-ever Division 1 playoff showdown this weekend.
The Eagles are set to play the Calgary Colts at Shouldice Artificial Turf Hellard on Saturday (Oct. 26) at 4:00 p.m. for the first-round game.
The Foothills-based team put up a 6-2 record this season and outscored their opponents 322-127 in the process. The Colts are coming off of an undefeated season and they outscored their opponents 286-46 this season.

Liberals attempt show of unity after tense caucus meeting with Trudeau
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told his MPs Wednesday that he would reflect on what they had to say in a three-hour caucus meeting where some Liberals confronted him about his leadership.
Trudeau was smiling when he left the meeting on Wednesday afternoon, and as he walked briskly past a horde of reporters on Parliament Hill he said only that the Liberal party is "strong and united."
Calgary Police have provided an update on semi crash killing 17 cows
The Calgary Police provided an update on the semi-truck rollover that caused 17 cows to be killed.
At roughly 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday night (Oct 22), Calgary Police were called to the scene of the rollover on Stoney Trail S.E and Macleod Trail S.E.
It occurred as the semi-truck was on the off-ramp from Stoney Trail to Macleod Trail S.E., and according to the Calgary Police media release, the driver failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of the vehicle.
Once the semi rolled over, it came to rest on the left-hand side of the road.
Okotoks Legion still in search of a dedicated building after 10 years
The Okotoks Legion will soon be celebrating 10 years in the community, and while they've made an impact on the community during that time, they've had to do so without a base of operations.
Mandy Barker, Secretary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #291 Okotoks, says that despite having a sizable and active membership base, they don't have a building to call their own.
Semi hauling cattle crashes in South Calgary, killing 17 cows
A semi hauling cattle rolled last night in South Calgary, killing 17 cows aboard.
The collision occurred on the ramp from eastbound Stoney Trail to southbound Macleod Trail Southeast.
According to the Calgary Police Service, the driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution but had sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Town of Claresholm is doing a controlled burn today
If you see smoke in the Claresholm area today, it may just be the town taking care of some leftover compost.
The Town took to Facebook today to let people know that they will be burning a compost pile.
The compost pile is at the northeast corner of town.
This is a controlled burn, and the Claresholm Fire Department is aware of this fire.
