Raffle fundraiser underway, AGM coming up: Special Olympics Weyburn
Special Olympics Weyburn has been selling tickets for two raffle fundraisers.
Two raffle draws will made on separate dates, with tickets for each draw selling for $5 each. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Ali at 306-861-3412.
The first draw will be made on October 15th at Kal-Tire, for a $1,650 gift card for Kal-Tire products, donated by Kal-Tire. Tickets can also be purchased directly at Kal-Tire.
"Just in time to get your winter tires on," said Jo-Ann Paxman, Community Manager for Special Olympics Weyburn.

Local author Jason Weening to host Author Talk at the Estevan Public Library
Estevan's newest resident and children's author Jason Weening will be hosting an author talk at the Estevan Public Library on September 14, at 2:00 p.m. Weening, who recently moved to the area from Ontario, is the author of Riders of the Lost Reptiles: Danger in the Jungle, a children's adventure book that combines mystery, action, and dinosaurs.
In an interview on the SUN 102 morning show, Weening spoke about the inspiration for his novel and shared a little bit about his personal life.

Hunger in Moose Jaw's Pumpkin Harvest Festival is coming up September 21.
The event will feature chili and hot dogs, the baking silent auction, farmers market, the biggest pumpkin guess, and lots more all happening at the 900 block of Grey Ave. All proceeds from the event go towards Hunger in Moose Jaw and the Yara Community Gardens.
Fall gardening more than just harvesting with fall blooms and spring bulbs
With farmers harvesting and temperatures dropping, many think gardening season has come to an end, however, agrologist Sherri Roberts, says there’s still work to be done.
Roberts mentions spring flowering bulbs like tulips, daffodils, and crocus need to be planted now in order to bloom when the snow melts next year.
“They need to have time to develop a root system. All those types of bulbs, they have to have a cold period. it's called vernalization. They have to go through that so that they can actually pop and bloom in the spring.”
Community sets up kids for success in the classroom
Pack a Backpack School Supply Drive went on yesterday from 9 am to 6 pm at the Great Canadian Dollar Store and it was a huge success.
Jo-Anne Dalton, Executive Director for Steinbach Family Recourse Centre says they raised $1,165 in cash donations and got a truck load of school supplies.
