WATCH/GALLERY: Legion Day a blast!

Heads turned downtown when they heard the occasional boom! coming from somewhere nearby.

Soon, they discovered it was the sound of a cannon being fired as part of the 4th annual Legion Show on Sept. 14 that attracted a solid crowd of spectators throughout the day.

The event featured plenty of military memorabilia and a chance to share stories while kicking off the celebration of National Legion Week.

Free marriage event in Winnipeg promises support and celebration for couples

A two-day outreach event aimed at married couples is happening this weekend in Winnipeg, organized by the Rock of Ages Ministries.

Rev. Bamidele Oni and his wife Ololade are hosting the event, which aligns with their 18th wedding anniversary. The outreach, taking place online on Friday, Sept. 20, and online and in-person on Sept. 21 at Fort Garry Mennonite Fellowship Church, is designed to foster biblical marriages and offer support for couples navigating challenges.

Grief: BTHC's Palliative Care to offer support, dietary advice to those in difficult season

Providing care to those with life-threatening illnesses is an important task. At Boundary Trails Health Centre (BTHC), the Palliative Care program has this important role. The program consists of volunteers and workers who do their best to ease the journey of navigating final days.

Coffees drank and donuts ate; that's a wrap on meals in the fields!

Meals in the Fields for 2024 is complete, with 7 deliveries to 7 hardworking producers.

The Kent Family-owned Tim Hortons provided coffee, breakfast sandwiches and pastries, and the CFRY Crew, along with our fantastic partners, made each delivery.

A fun day in Ste. Anne for Dawson Trail Days

It was a beautiful day to spend time outside and lots of people made their way to Ste. Anne for Dawson Trail Days. 

The day kicked off with a pancake breakfast followed by a parade, and a Party in the Park! 

Ste. Anne’s Recreational Services Manager, Sarah Normandeau shares they had entertainment, a vendor show, petting zoo, face painting, foam party, games, and more!

Riding, roping, and racing: Heartland Rodeo in photos

It was a great afternoon for a rodeo and Heartland Rodeo and Hanover Ag put on a fabulous show.  

The best-of-the-best competed in events including bareback, saddlebronc, steer riding, ranch saddlebronc, steer wrestling, tie down roping, breakaway roping, pee wee barrel racing, goat tying, ladies barrel racing, team roping, and bull riding.  

Individual event awards will be given out, as well as awards for High Point Saddles, Rookie of the Year, and Horse of the Year.  

Raffle fundraiser underway, AGM coming up: Special Olympics Weyburn

Special Olympics Weyburn has been selling tickets for two raffle fundraisers.

Two raffle draws will made on separate dates, with tickets for each draw selling for $5 each. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Ali at 306-861-3412.

The first draw will be made on October 15th at Kal-Tire, for a $1,650 gift card for Kal-Tire products, donated by Kal-Tire. Tickets can also be purchased directly at Kal-Tire.
