Seed and Feed Rolls into the Waldeck Area with a Special Delivery

A multi-generational farm in the Waldeck area was the latest stop for this year's Seed and Feed. The crew delivered a K-Motel lunch to the family-run operation amid a busy and hopeful seeding season.

Andrew Gerbrandt, the farm's operator, received a surprise call letting him know they'd been selected, thanks to his father, who had entered the contest.

The family manages roughly 4,600 acres, and seeding is nearly complete, with only a few fields left to go. This year, they're planting various crops, including durum wheat, lentils, chickpeas, flax, and mustard.

The Scoop with Coop: Introducing Douglas Cooper

I joined in on a fun topic Friday morning on the Country 104 morning show with host Nick Cooper.

All morning, he was asking the audience if they have ever come across their name in media, or any other form of entertainment. The idea came to him after watching a show where "Nicholas Cooper" was admitted to hospital.

While I have never met another Cooper Douglas in person, on a screen, or on the internet, I am aware of NFL player Cooper (Douglas) Kupp. Other than that, I don't have many examples.

Martens Mutterings: Riding a bike; Kids vs. Adults

So, we had great weather this weekend, especially for bike riding. My 2 oldest girls are in the process of learning how to ride a bike. We gave it a go last year, and got most of the basics down, but didn't quite get it by summers end. So, we figured let's head out to the pavement and give it another try.

The good news is our oldest pretty well has it figured out. Lots of running behind the bike while she peddles, turns into her going around and around in the parking lot and gaining lots of confidence. Our middle daughter was giving it a try too but isn't quite there yet.
