Farmers fed and fields busy thanks to Seed N Feed
After more than five inches of rain delayed the start of the season, Grant Palmer of Palmer Enterprises Corp. and his crew are back in the field and pushing to finish seeding by the end of the week.
“It’s going good,” Palmer said. “We got back at it Monday and hope to wrap up by Sunday night.”
Road Closure-Main Street South-Thursday May 29th
A southern section of Main Street in Humboldt will be closed to traffic on Thursday, May 29.
The area between 2nd and 4th avenue of Main Street will be closed to abandon an old watermain.
A detour will be set up to guide traffic around the closed-off area.
Work is expected to last for one day.
Seed N Feed keeps farmers fueled throughout seeding season
Seed N Feed is helping keep farmers fueled this season, even as wet conditions have caused some delays.
Walter Neuman of Neuman Acres Ltd. said seeding started off well, though they were waiting for things to dry up in early May. Several days of rain also led to issues with potholes.
Neuman has been farming since 1986, with help from Brad Lopey and his father. His brother also pitches in during harvest and drives the grain truck, along with occasional seasonal helpers.
Future Four Farms was another lucky winner of Seed N Feed.
CHVN listeners share the best ice cream spots around Manitoba
With temperatures nearing 30 degrees this week in Winnipeg, many are sharing the best spots around Manitoba to cool off with a tasty treat.
We asked CHVN listeners where the best ice cream spots around Manitoba were.
Some of the places mentioned in Winnipeg are Dug and Betty's, Sky Sundae, Sargent Sundae, Baba's House, Chaeban Ice Cream, Milksmith, Licks, Original George's, and Utoffeea.
In Winkler, Erica said, "Icebergs! Mmmm, deep-fried oreo sundae." Nicci agreed and also said, "Charley B's"
Classroom of the Month: Visiter la classe de Madame Fafard
Classroom of the Month presented by Canadian Tire continued today at Assiniboia Park Elementary School!
We visited Madame Fafard's French Immersion Class. Fortunately, we didn't need to speak too much French (we did know fromage!!) and had a blast with the kids! We also learned that some of the singers we thought were cool are now out of style and were informed that we should be listening to Kendrick Lamar and Weyburn's own Tenille Arts!

Good eats for a good cause: The Bunker food truck is back
The Bunker’s Industrial Eats food truck is open in full swing this year, continuing their tradition of hosting a fundraiser lunch on The Bunker’s parking lot. We spoke to The Bunker's executive director Kevin Hildebrand last Thursday (May 22), before the lunch rush came by, and he noted the longevity of this fundraiser: “This is something we’ve been doing for a lot of years, on Thursdays over lunch”. The lunches support the work of The Bunker Youth Drop-in Centre programs.
This PV Cup matchup is shocking
The wires are crackling and the rivalry is real — Winkler’s two powerhouse electrical companies are going head-to-head in the PV Cup!
D.A. Loewen Electric and Borderview Electric have found themselves in a high-voltage showdown as we hit the Conference Final in the PV Cup. While the NHL has the Carolina Hurricanes facing the Florida Panthers, all eyes in Winkler are on the businesses behind the jerseys — and the friendly sparks are flying.
Meals On The Farm delivery six: RN Farms
The crew at 104.5 More Country delivered its last Meal in the Farm to RN Farms Limited.
The farm has been running since the 1900s, and this is the last time they will be seeding.
The crew is led by farmer Rob Larson, who took ownership in 1983.
The group was served lunch from Baldwin BBQ.
