As local drivers and community members are taking in the sunshine of the first week of spring, SGI is keen to encourage safe driving this season.

Maintaining an appropriate following distance and staying mindful of puddles and potholes are just a few of the SGI's recommendations for motorists this spring. 

Jeremy Pilon, communications consultant at SGI, highlighted that folks should keep an eye out for wildlife, especially around dawn and dusk when many animals are most active.

Can you imagine the weight of 18 tonnes of truck and 20 tonnes of excavator? 

To put this immense amount into perspective, the combined weight of the machinery is equivalent to about 22 cars. Picturing this number, however, was likely far from Sean Rickards' mind as he found himself crushed between the two pieces of equipment. 

“I was broken within a millimetre of my life,” he said afterwards.  

SaskTel released another list of locations that they'll be expanding 5G service into, which will include communities and highway areas in east central Saskatchewan.

The latest increase comes as part of SaskTel’s current initiative to deliver faster connectivity to rural areas. 

Liberal Leader Mark Carney will be campaigning in Nepean today, the Ottawa riding where he is seeking election.

Carney, who has not yet served as an MP, is expected to meet with volunteers in the riding at 10 a.m.

Carney has faced questions about his decision to run in Nepean, which became vacant only after the Liberal party ousted MP Chandra Arya as its candidate three days before the election was called.

With a federal election on the horizon, agriculture organizations are taking a look at some of the actions they want to see for the future.

For the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan, they've been calling for changes to be put forward for the Carbon Tax, which has seen the consumer side recently come off.

Vice-President Chris Procyk says he hopes to see that continue to be a policy point for all federal parties in the upcoming election.

Home cooking has been the recipe for success in the series between the Humboldt Broncos and Flin Flon Bombers.  

Through the first four games, the home squad has won each contest as the Broncos will try and break that trend on Saturday night at the Whitney Forum.  

After their second straight overtime win on Wednesday night, Associate Coach Carter Hansen said the pressure falls back to the Bombers. 

It's going to be a difficult trek with travelling throughout the rest of the day and into the weekend. 

 Snowfall began yesterday and has carried over into today, creating slippery conditions on the roads along with reduced visibility.  

Environment Canada’s Stephen Berg says the snowfall will ease later tonight.

The U13 ‘A’ Humboldt Broncos will try and finish the season off on the best possible note as they travel to Moosomin on Saturday to meet the Rangers.  

Last weekend, Humboldt opened the final series with a 5-3 win.  

Opening faceoff for tomorrow’s game is 2:30. If Moosomin beats Humboldt, then the two teams will battle in a ten minute “mini game” immediately following Game 2.  

The last weekend of March will serve as the final days for the local senior hockey leagues.  

Fresh off winning the Senior ‘C’ Provincials last weekend in Wilkie, the Foam Lake Flyers will resume the Long Lake Hockey League Championship finals tonight against the Drake Canucks.
