Spring thaw brings new weight restrictions on Saskatchewan rural and secondary roadways
Protecting our province's secondary highways becomes all the more important as the we begin to thaw out for spring. That's why, as the annual warm-up approaches, the Ministry of Highways is reminding residents and motorists that spring weight restrictions will come into effect on Friday.
The restrictions begin at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, March 21, in southwest Saskatchewan and will be phased in throughout the province as temperatures climb. The restrictions will remain in place for up to six weeks.
Broncos ready to embrace underdog in their playoff series against Flin Flon
The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) playoffs begin tonight with all four series getting underway, including the Humboldt Broncos meeting the Flin Flon Bombers.
During the regular season, the Broncos and Bombers met on four occasions, but each team hosted their opponent in back-to-back games in the season.
Sask. Party and NDP debate tariff response and healthcare budget during Question Period
The Saskatchewan NDP dubbed Wednesday’s provincial budget ‘the greatest work of fiction’ during Question Period on Thursday, noting that it didn’t include the fiscal impacts of tariffs from the United States and China.
Finance Critic Trent Wotherspoon added that in order to survive these tariffs, Saskatchewan needs to expand trade significantly and build the necessary railways pipelines to get there.
Sask. Party Finance Minister Jim Reiter shot back that the NDP used to be opposed to pipelines, trade offices, and the Premier’s trade missions.
Spring wellness programming launched with Prairie Sky Trails Association
There’s a spring flurry of new programs coming out from the Prairie Sky Trails Association, with something for all ages and tastes.

Unions, opposition, pan healthcare spending in budget
The provincial budget, released Wednesday, is being criticized for what is included in terms of healthcare, with unions and the opposition NDP stating it doesn’t include enough for the retention of staff, and it is spending even less money in some areas than the last budget.
Linda Renkas is the vice president of CUPE 5430. She said the numbers don’t track with what they were hearing before the budget was presented.
Poilievre outlines plan to boost apprenticeships, training for trades workers
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is announcing a plan to boost training and jobs for workers in skilled trades.
In a news release this morning, Poilievre says his plan for "more boots, less suits" will expand training halls and provide direct grants and faster employment insurance for apprentices in licensed trades.
He says the goal is to deliver higher paycheques to workers and make Canada less reliant on the U.S.
