Province to stop providing devices for illicit drug use
The Saskatchewan government announced Thursday that it will no longer supply pipes for smoking meth, crack, and other illicit drugs.
The province will also discontinue providing materials on how to use illicit drugs.
Third-party organizations will not be permitted to use funding from the Ministry of Health or the Saskatchewan Health Authority for those purposes.
EPS charge man with list of firearms, death threat offences
The Estevan Police Service charged an Estevan man with a series of charges, including 14 firearms offences, Sunday night.
Police located and arrested Kristofer Douglas Donald, who was wanted for criminal offences including uttering death threats and threatening to kill police officers.
Police seized a loaded prohibited firearm when they arrested Donald.
He was held in fortify and appeared in Estevan court on Monday.

Impaired driver slams into parked police car with officers inside: WPS
A Winnipeg woman is facing two charges after a Sunday evening collision.
The Winnipeg Police Service alleges that at approximately 11:44 p.m., officers were sitting inside a parked car in the eastbound parking lane of Silver Avenue near Albany Street when a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire traveling westbound suddenly swerved and collided with the police vehicle. According to police, both vehicles were left with "extensive damage."
Extreme cold warning issued for the area
The coldest weather so far this winter has arrived. After battling snow and wind for a good part of the week, people in southern Manitoba now have to deal with windchills into the -40's over the course of the next few days. Arctic air has now descended across much of the Prairies, including the Central Plains.

Missing man from Westman safely located: RCMP
Mounties in western Manitoba say that a man who hadn't been heard from in over a month has been safely located.
The Minnedosa RCMP says that they received a report of a missing male from the RM of Glenella-Lansdowne the morning of January 6, 2024.
According to the report, the man was last seen at a residence on Highway 16 in the municipality on November 27, 2023. The RCMP says that he was in contact with a family member, but he has not been heard from since.
On Friday, January 12, 2024, the RCMP sent out a release saying the man had been found.
Residential parking ban coming as Winnipeg begins to dig out

The City of Winnipeg says that a residential parking ban will be in effect Sunday, January 14 at 7 p.m. until Wednesday, January 17 at 7 a.m.
Frank won’t seek council re-election
Estevan city councillor Travis Frank announced Friday that he will not be seeking another term in the November 2024 municipal election.
”I am so grateful to have been elected to serve the community for the past two terms, starting out as the youngest member known to have been elected to Estevan City Council. Now, as my wife and I shift our focus to growing our respective businesses and our family, I have decided that it is time to let someone new take my seat with fresh new ideas to help move Estevan forward,” he wrote in a news release.

Truck stolen from Weyburn found in Fillmore; pair charged with firearms offences
Two Fillmore residents are facing charges after a vehicle that was stolen from Weyburn was located with a firearm.
The Weyburn RCMP investigated the report of the stolen vehicle, which allegedly happened between December 4 and 22.
Police found the vehicle at a residence in Fillmore, which contained a firearm.
