Airdrie Techmation Thunder spotlight of the week: Daytn Kulynych

This week's Airdrie Techmation Thunder Spotlight belongs to Daytn Kulynych.

The Thunder picked up two wins last week. On Friday, they edged out the Coaldale Copperheads 3-2, and on Saturday, they overpowered the Ponoka Stampeders with an 8-3 victory. This brings the Thunder's season record to 8-6.

Head Coach and General Manager Mark Kulynych wrote that Daytn had a great overall weekend.

"DK (Daytn Kulynych) had by far his best game of the year on Friday, and was all around the puck."

Airdrie Techmation Thunder spotlight of the week: AJ Stebbins

This week's Airdrie Techmation Thunder Spotlight belongs to AJ Stebbins.

The Thunder only had one game last week which was on Friday when they took on the Wheatland Kings. Unfortunately, the Thunder dropped the game losing 5-2, On the season, Airdrie now has a record of six wins and six losses.

Head Coach and General Manager Mark Kulynych wrote that Stebbins had a great game Friday.

Airdrie Techmation Thunder spotlight of the week: Jaivir Kaler

This week's Airdrie Techmation Thunder Spotlight belongs to Jaivir Kaler.

The Thunder won both of their games on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, they knocked off the Three Hills Thrashers 5-1, and after facing plenty of adversity on Saturday, they beat the Rocky Rams 4-2. On the season, Airdrie now has a record of six wins and five losses.

Head Coach and General Manager Mark Kulynych wrote that Kaler played his best game Friday.

Airdrie Techmation Thunder spotlight of the week: Lucas Veal

This week's Airdrie Techmation Thunder Spotlight belongs to Lucas Veal.

The Thunder split their two most recent games, they lost Friday to the Sylvan Lake Wranglers 4-2 but beat the Ponoka Stampeders 4-0 on Saturday. Veal was in the net for both games. 

He had a strong performance on Friday stopping 37 of the 40 shots he faced. He followed it up Saturday earning his team their first shutout of the season stopping all 20 shots.

Head Coach and General Manager Mark Kulynych explained why, Veal earned the spotlight.

Airdrie Techmation Thunder spotlight of the week: Zach Jones

This week's Airdrie Techmation Thunder Spotlight belongs to Zach Jones.

On Friday the Thunder lost to the Red Deer Vipers 4-3 before dropping another to the Mountainview Colts on Saturday 6-2. On the season, the Thunder have a 3-4 record.

Even though the Thunder dropped both of their games over the weekend, Head Coach and General Manager Mark Kulynych was proud of how Jones played.

"Jonesy played two solid games for us this weekend. He was working hard and playing the right way. Jonesy has gotten better throughout the year and is great for the room."

Airdrie Techmation Thunder spotlight of the week: Calan Blondeau and sponsors

This week's Airdrie Techmation Thunder Spotlight belongs to Calan Blondeau and local sponsors. Blondeau was named player of the game while Head Coach and General Manager Mark Kulynych also wanted to thank the local sponsors.

Friday's game against High River was a special one for the Thunder as they also hosted "Rock the Rink" where they had live music from the Ashley Garrett Band.

Kulynych wrote that special thanks are needed for the sponsors who helped make last Friday the day that it was.

Airdrie Techmation Thunder spotlight of the week: Sydney Gilliss and Austin White

This week's Airdrie Techmation Thunder Spotlight belongs to Sydney Gilliss and Austin White. Gilliss was named Performer of the Week while White was named Player of the Week.

Gilliss, the Social Media Manager and Assistant General Manager for the Thunder has played a crucial role in the Thunder's season, mentioned Head Coach and General Manager Mark Kulynych.

"Syd has helped get the game day running smoothly, along with the "Rock the Rink" event on Friday," Kulynych wrote.

Thursday Thunder Player of the Week is Justin LeGrandeur

Thursday Thunder Player of the Week is 21-year-old Justin LeGrandeur. This is the second time LeGrandeur has been selected this season.

From Airdrie, LeGrandeur grew up playing for teams in Airdrie like the Airdrie Lightning U15 AA, AC Avalanche U16 AAA and Airdrie Lightning U18 AA.

The Thunder suffered two big losses on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Thunder lost 4-2 to the Strathmore Wheatland Kings and 7-5 to the Mountainview Colts on Saturday.

On the season, the Thunder now have a 10-22-4 record as they make a final push for the playoffs.

Thursday Thunder Player of the week is Austin White

This week, the Thursday Thunder Player of the Week for the Airdrie Techmation Thunder is 19-year-old goaltender Austin White. This is the second time this season White has been selected for Thursday Thunder Player of the Week.

White, from Airdrie, has played hockey in the city for many years playing for teams like the CFR Brison and the AA Airdrie Lightning.

Thursday Thunder Player of the week is Damon Pennoyer

This week, the Thursday Thunder Player of the Week for the Airdrie Techmation Thunder is rookie Damon Pennoyer. This is the second time he has been selected for Thursday Thunder Player of the Week.

From Calgary, Pennoyer grew up playing hockey in the Springbank area. Now 18 years old, Pennoyer wanted to play more competitive Junior B hockey than what there is in Calgary, so he decided to come play for the Thunder.
