Local 48-year-old male facing multiple charges of assault with a weapon

An incident that occurred on Thursday, February 6 in Humboldt has resulted in a 48-year-old male facing multiple assault charges.

Officers along with local EMS responded to a report of an assault in a business parking lot at around 11:30 pm. 

The investigation determined an adult male was armed with a machete and approached two other males in the parking lot. The two groups did not know each other.

During the altercation, one of the males was injured. He was transported to hospital with injuries described as serious in nature. There is no update on his condition.

The HCAA Junior Curling District Championships hosted by Muenster School took place at the Humboldt Curling over the past two days (Feb.11&12).

Sask. Government announces additional funding for relocatable classrooms including Humboldt

Humboldt is one of several communities that is set to benefit from the latest investment from the Saskatchewan Government to help address growing student enrolment.  

On Wednesday, the provincial government announced it would be pledging an additional 29.5 million dollars in relocatable classrooms.  

The mid-year funding brings the total investment from the Saskatchewan government up to $58 million for 2024-25.  

SHA response to Watrous Hospital ER interruptions

Once again Watrous Hospital has experienced closure of its ER over the evenings of February 10 and 11.  

A conversation with Watrous Mayor John Gunderson revealed that the primary challenge was with temporary staff shortages in the hospital’s lab. It’s a situation that Gunderson is hoping to be short term. However, Watrous Hospital is just one rural and northern Saskatchewan centre experiencing those types of staffing challenges. 

Lone occupant declared deceased in rollover near Bruno

A single vehicle rollever near Bruno has resulted in the sole occupants death. 

Saskatoon RCMP, along with local fire and EMS, responded to the accident on Township Road 384 approximately 9 kilometres west of Bruno.

The deceased has been identified as a 60-year-old male from Bruno, SK. His family has been notified.

Saskatoon RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

Saskatchewan RCMP seizes nearly two kilograms of illicit drugs and 35,000 illegal cigarettes near Humboldt

Saskatchewan RCMP's Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team (CRT), Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) and Humboldt Detachment arrested and charged one individual and seized nearly two kilograms of illicit drugs and 35,000 illegal cigarettes after executing a search warrant near Humboldt, SK.

An RCMP release indicates that on February 4, 2025, RCMP officers from Prince Albert CRT and Humboldt Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence northeast of Humboldt in relation to an ongoing investigation.
