Drivers travelling down Highway 368 on any given late fall morning are likely to encounter deer, moose, and maybe the odd coyote or fox in the dark to twilight hours. But it’s not often that a huge green fireball trailing light as it streaks to the horizon greets locals in the morning.
Horizon School Division school board election results
The Horizon School Division has announced the results of the school board election that was held on Wednesday night.
The elected trustees are:
Subdivision 1 Pamela Wintringham* (new)
Subdivision 2 Linda Mattock (returning)
Subdivision 3 Jennifer Lemky (returning)
Lanigan Civic Election Results
The results are in from Wednesday night’s election from the town of Lanigan.
With Tony Mycock claiming the mayor position by acclimation, the election was held to determine six councillor positions as seven candidates were in the running.

Humboldt RCMP trying to locate missing side by side utility vehicle and dump trailer
The Humboldt RCMP is seeking assistance to help locate a missing side by side utility vehicle.
Sometime between October 15 and 16, 2024, an orange Kubota side by side was stolen from a business on the Main Street of Humboldt.

Beck names new shadow cabinet
Opposition leader Carla Beck announced her shadow cabinet on Wednesday.
Along with her duties as leader of the opposition, Beck will add Agriculture and the new Rural Affairs to her portfolio.
Last month’s provincial election saw the Sask. NDP more than doubled their seats. In a release Beck said her team is a government-in-waiting and ready to deliver.
Provincial ministries and agencies preparing in advance of possible postal disruption
Like many agencies and organizations, the Government of Saskatchewan and its affiliates are preparing for the potential of a postal service disruption. Ministries, Crown corporations and organizations are launching work arounds to ensure the delivery of vital payments, applications and documents.

On Wednesday November 13, 2024, TSL will be repairing a main shut off valve and water distribution to the ENTIRE town will be shut down for several hours. The dig will start at 8 AM and if all goes well, will be completed by 2 PM.
When the water comes back on there will be a BOIL WATER ADVISORY in effect for the entire community until further notice.
