Humboldt Broncos facing legal action
On August 5, the Humboldt Broncos organization released the following statement:
The Humboldt Broncos Organization is aware of the Statement of Claim that has been filed against them in the Court of Queens Bench regarding a contractual dispute.
The Humboldt Broncos Organization has retained the law firm of Robertson Stromberg, of Saskatoon, to deal with this matter. The Humboldt Broncos Organization will have no further comment on this matter while it is before the courts.

The smell of grilling smokies, the tart tang of the cherry sundae, the succulent baked goods, all laced with the goodness of fresh cherries … all a part of the latest Bruno Cherry Sunday. On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, throngs of people turned out for the annual celebration.
As in previous years, a wide range of vendors brought home crafts, jewelry, pottery and much more for visitors to explore. The entertainment tent was always lively with local talent mixing with celebrities like Saltwater Joy.

Gas Buddy analyzes local gas pricing

Humboldt and area gas prices have relaxed in recent days from a high that flirted with $2.00 per litre to the current median of 158.9. Meanwhile gas pumps in the region are displaying slightly higher prices and a few highway fuel stops showing slightly lower than the regional average.
Passing lanes under construction for Highway 16
Motorists along Highway 16 have enduring various stretches of construction this season, but the results will be worth the wait.
There will be 28 passing lanes and multiple intersection upgrades on Highway 16, which will improve safety along the major transportation corridor. The passing lanes extend on the Yellowhead east of Saskatoon from Clavet to Dafoe and in the Yorkton area from Springside to Saltcoats.
Busy end of July for Saskatchewan RCMP officers
Saskatchewan RCMP Communications release its weekly response report for the period of July 25 to July 31. RCMP Divisional Operational Communications Centre reported 7809 total calls for service during that period with the highest single-day volume of 1289 on July 30. Among those were 119 Reports of Impaired Drivers.
The service noted 8 reports of firearms used in commision of an offense, and 108 break and enter reports. Twenty-one instances involved businesses, while the remaining 26 transgressions took place in residences.

The organizing committee is also pleased to announce, our tournament co-host, Jared Bednar will have the Stanley Cup in Humboldt Saturday, August 6th.
Unity tops Muenster 18U AA Red Sox in closer
The Muenster 18U AA Red Sox attempted to battle back against the Unity Cardinals last night, to no avail, as the Cards walked away with a 9-4 win.
Tai Bescher took the loss on the mound for the Red Sox allowing nine hits and striking out four in five and a third innings.
Unity hopped off to a quick start with a trio of runs in the first. Muenster tied the game in the second on a triple by Chase Sylvestre and a subsequent single by Lynden Loessl. But Unity went to work after that scoring 6 more runs to the Red Sox one.
