Cochrane Historical Museum will not open for regular hours this summer

Despite the "Open for Summer" mandate in Alberta, the Cochrane Historical Museum will not open to the public with its regular hours this summer.

The Cochrane Historical and Archival Preservation Society executive made the decision at a recent meeting.

All considerations were based on keeping the volunteers, who are mostly seniors, and the public safe during the pandemic.

Unfortunately, there was no grant money assigned in this year's budget in which to pay for student staffing either.

Roussin receiving threats almost daily, says threats against family unacceptable

Manitoba's Chief Public Health Officer and his family have been receiving troubling messages and threats.

Throughout the pandemic, especially in the Third Wave, Dr. Brent Roussin has been receiving alarming messages.

"It's not just a single occasion," Roussin says. "To get a call from law enforcement when at the time I wasn't at home but my family was, it's a little bit concerning... I don't think that any of us can legitimately accept that threats against someone or their family are acceptable no matter how much you disagree with some of the protections."
