Manitoba sees 86 new COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths
There are slightly more than one thousand active COVID-19 cases in Manitoba.
As of Thursday morning, there are 86 new COVID-19 cases being announced.
New cases include:
Morden Corn & Apple Festival gets new logo
A full re-brand of the Morden Corn & Apple Festival is complete - the first in the 54-year history of the event. The new look was unveiled to the public Wednesday.
Executive Director, Tim Hodge, explained that while a tweak was made to the branding in 2005, the logo really hasn't changed much since the first festival in 1967.
Ontario non-for-profit donates $7,000 to Kenora, Thunder Bay and Rainy River charities
The Municipal Retirees Organization of Ontario (MROO), has stepped up and donated a total of $7,000 to seven local charities and organizations across the Thunder Bay, Kenora, and Rainy River District.
July 8: NWHU confirms no new cases of COVID-19
The Northwestern Health Unit has reported no new positive test results across the region.
Currently, 3 active cases are still in the NWHU catchment area. Two cases in the Sioux Lookout Health Region and one active case in the Rainy River Health Region.
No skates required for 13th annual Kimmett Cup
Kimmett Cup will look a lot different in 2021.
Instead of the annual pond hockey tournament, organizers are hosting the first ever Kimmett Cup Street Hockey Tournament on Sept.12.
Back in February the annual event was put on hold because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Paramedics exhausted, Chief frustrated with ambulance capacity degradation
Ambulances in Winnipeg are often working at double their suggested maximum workload, seriously straining their paramedics.
Chief John Lane of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) has been saying for almost two years after releasing a report that paramedics are overworked.
"There is just no chance for them to catch their breath."
After more than a year of being overworked, paramedics and their communications staff are exhausted.
Road closure on Northshore Road today
Drivers may experience delays as the City of Dryden has announced a road closure for today.
Northshore Road will be closed at 203 Northshore Road to through traffic today from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The closure is needed for workers to replace a roadway culvert.

NWHU switching gears on case count reporting
As daily case numbers across the region continue to drop, the Northwestern Health Unit will be changing the way they report cases on their website.
Effective Tuesday, daily case counts will be only updated during the week by the NWHU. Special communication will be delivered to the public over the weekend if a high number of COVID-19 positive test results are confirmed, or if there is a case that is a greater risk to the public that can not be handled by case and contact management.
1.9 million Albertans are now fully immunized
According to a Government of Alberta news release, Alberta is leading the country in second COVID-19 vaccine shots.
As of Wednesday, July 7, 50.7 per cent of eligible Albertans have received both doses of vaccine.
The provincial government thanked AHS, participating pharmacies, and select physicians' offices for administering 4.6 million shots of vaccine.
To date, 73.6 per cent of the provincial population have received one dose of the COVID vaccine.
There were 67 new cases reported in the past 24 hours with a positivity rate of .012 per cent.
Province announcing 71 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths
The number of people being treated for COVID-19 out of province is lowering, now with less than half a dozen in Ontario.
Public health officials advise two new deaths in people with COVID-19 are being reported today:
• a male in his 30s from the Interlake-Eastern health region, linked to an unspecified variant of concern; and
• a male in his 50s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the B.1.1.7 (alpha) variant of concern.
