Hammerheads compete in Moose Jaw swim meet

The Humboldt Hammerheads Senior swimmers were in Moose Jaw this past weekend competing in the Mike Mintenko swim meet.

Despite tough cold, windy and rainy conditions inside of a 50m pool, it was a successful weekend for the team, with many swimmers setting some new personal best records.  

Aidra Angelstad finished off with a pair of gold medals and had eight total top three finishes.  

Taylor Possberg also picked up one victory and collected three medals in total.

Annagail Ell's figure skating season recognized with a provincial award

It was a successful season on and off the ice for a local figure skater.  

Annagail Ell capped off a triumph campaign recently when she won the Provincial StarSkate Award.   

Most of Ell’s awards have been a result of accomplishments on the ice, but the Provincial Star Athlete Award is based both on the ice achievements of the skater and required three letters of recommendation.  

Herperger duo are the big winners at an abbreviated edition of HGC Father's Day Tournament

It was a mixed bag of weather on the weekend at Humboldt Golf Club’s Annual Father’s Day Tournament.   

On Saturday, the golfers were presented with ideal playing conditions, while on Sunday the cold wind and rain forced a cancellation midway through the final round of the two-day event.   

Pilot project launched for Regional Emergency Mangement Operation in Humboldt

Steps have been made towards a Regional Emergency Mangement Operation in Humboldt and the surrounding area.  

The discussion has been ongoing for several years, with interest being expressed along with communities and rural municipalities in the area. 

This led to a successful application for a TSS grant to hire a consultant to help develop an emergency plan for the region. 

Lanigan is getting ready to celebrate next weekend

Summer will begin with a bang next weekend with Celebrate Lanigan. The town will be busy for three days, filled with activities for all ages.  

The weekend starts on Friday, June 21 with a community BBQ hosted by the town council, everyone is asked to bring a non-perishable food item. 

On Saturday, there is a pancake breakfast from 8:30-10:15 am at Town Hall. Proceeds of the breakfast goes to Lanigan Dance Dynamics.
