Red Sox down Miller Express; six players named all-stars
The Regina Red Sox had two big innings to take down the Moose Jaw Miller Express 7–4 at Ross Wells Park on Wednesday night.
Moose Jaw opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, with Austin Gurney scoring off a Tanner DeGrazia single.
Innings two through five went scoreless before Regina put up four runs in the top of the sixth to make it 4–1.

It's Throwback Thursday - just a minute to remember the good old days.
Remember when we all had maps in our cars? We'd keep them in the glove box and, from time to time, we'd pull over and have a look when we needed them.
Times have changed. Now we have cel phones with services like Siri, Alexa, Google Assistant and Google Maps.
I put two of those into action last week when I was visiting friends in Calgary. Siri got me to my first destination with no problems. She was perfect.

They scored 4 runs in the 6th inning and 3 more in the 7th and that's all they needed - the Regina Red Sox beat the Miller Express in Moose Jaw 7-4 last night.
Leadoff hitter Ian Montz did most of the damage, going 3 for 6 at the plate with 4 RBI. Meanwhile, Robert Estrada hit a home run for the Millers.
One other East Division team was in action last night - the Weyburn Beavers suffered an 11-8 loss in Medicine Hat and that's where the Millers will play tonight against the Mavericks.

E. Coli advisories issues for Last Mountain Lake beaches
Through the Government of Saskatchewan’s Healthy Beaches program, E. Coli advisories have been issued for a pair of beaches on the west shore of Last Mountain Lake.
Alice Beach tested 476.8 E. Coli organisms per 100 ml of water on July 4. Recreational water is considered to be safe for swimming and other in-water activities with a sample no greater than 235 E. Coli organisms per 100 ml of water.
Campgrounds open as Country Thunder kicks off in Craven
The campgrounds are now open as Craven welcomes thousands of music fans for Country Thunder this weekend.
The campground gates opened at 9 a.m. on Wednesday to allow festival-goers time to set up their sites before the event begins. The campground gates will close at 10 p.m. each night.
Canada to 'align' with U.S. airport screening rules as TSA drops shoes-off policy
Ottawa says it will work to align its flight security regulations with those in the U.S. after Washington dropped a rule that required passengers to remove their shoes during security screenings.
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Tuesday that passengers at American airports no longer need to remove their shoes because officials have found other ways to keep travellers safe.
Canada does not require passengers flying domestically or to non-U.S. destinations to take off their shoes for screening, unless a security officer decides it's necessary.
Wisconsin and Minnesota Republicans call on Canada to curb wildfire smoke
Six Republican lawmakers have sent a letter to Canada's ambassador calling for action on the wildfires sending smoke billowing across the international border into their states.
In a Tuesday letter to Ambassador to the U.S. Kirsten Hillman, representatives Tom Tiffany, Brad Finstad, Tom Emmer, Michelle Fischbach, Glenn Grothman and Pete Stauber of Wisconsin and Minnesota said their constituents are coping with suffocating smoke from Canadian wildfires.
Wakamow fishing clinic invites new anglers to learn the basics — and fish responsibly
Wakamow Valley will host a free fishing clinic at the Plaxton’s Lake boardwalk this Saturday, July 12, offering beginners a chance to learn essential skills during Saskatchewan Free Fishing Week.
The event is from 10 a.m. to noon and is presented in partnership with the South Saskatchewan Wildlife Association, with highly experienced anglers on hand to teach casting, tying lures, and other basic techniques.
Moose Jaw ties 45-year-old record high
The City of Moose Jaw is on the verge of breaking a 45-year-old record high.
As of 1 p.m. yesterday, Environment Canada is showing that Moose Jaw has reached 36.1 degrees, tying the record set back in 1980. The city dropped down to 36 degrees at 2 p.m. but returned back up to 36.1 as of 3 p.m.
Coronach was also not only the hot spot in Saskatchewan, but the hot spot in Canada, reaching 37.5 degrees.
