Routine bridge inspections begin today
Beginning today, motorists may notice increased activity during their commute if it takes them over one of Moose Jaw's many bridges, as routine inspections get underway this morning at 6 a.m.
The inspections will take place between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. until May 22, and while no bridges will be closed while undergoing inspection, speed limits will be restricted to 30 km/h and depending on location, accompanied by restrictions to both pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

Canadian residents returning by automobile from the U.S. in April fell on a year-over-year basis for the fourth consecutive month, preliminary numbers released by Statistics Canada showed Monday. The 1.2 million trips represented a 35.2 per cent drop from the same month in 2024 and 45.1 per cent lower than April 2019, before the pandemic.
Despite a polarizing election, poll suggests Canadians don't want a two-party system
While the recent federal election turned into a tight race between the Liberals and Conservatives that left other parties trailing far behind, a new poll suggests most Canadians don't want the country end up with a two-party system.
The poll of over 1,600 Canadians, conducted by Leger Marketing for the Association for Canadian Studies between May 1 and 3, suggests only 21 per cent of Canadians think the country would be better off with a system where two parties dominate the political landscape.

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Moose Jaw and the surrounding area.
The threat of a severe thunderstorm is expected to continue late into this evening and into the overnight hour as storms move towards the northeast.
Severe thunderstorms can produce strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain and can damage roofs, fences, branches and soft shelters.

Lumseden RCMP are at the scene of another train derailment near Craven that is affecting traffic on Highway 20.
A train derailed on Sunday along Highway 20 west of Craven that closed the highway. The RCMP sent out a media advisory on Monday afternoon saying a new derailment event has taken place in the same area.
Charges laid after stabbing on Stadacona Street
A 43-year-old man is facing charges after a stabbing on the 1200 block of Stadacona Street West on Sunday.
The Moose Jaw Police Service responded to a reported break and enter at around 8:15 a.m.
Officers located a person who had suffered multiple stab wounds. The victim was taken to hospital and is currently in stable condition, according to police.
Southern Sask. sizzled during early heat wave
The Moose Jaw area was on track to shatter some weather records over the weekend; however, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada, we fell just a bit short.
The city peaked at a sweltering 29.3° on Saturday, and 28.9° on Sunday, and while we were well above the normal maximum for this time of year, we were a full 2.3 and 3.9° short of the current records of 31.6° and 32.8° set back in 1998.
Planned production outage at Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant tomorrow
A planned production outage at the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant (BPWTP) is in the works for tomorrow. Tentatively scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. and is expected to last 16 hours. According to the City of Moose Jaw (speaking on behalf of the BPWTP) the work in necessary to continue ongoing construction at the facility.
McHappy Day raises $12,299.29 for school play grounds
McHappy Day was a huge success last week not only nationally but also on a local level.
Last week on Thursday, McDonalds locations in Moose Jaw joined in McHappy Day by donating a portion of every food and drink purchase will go directly to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and other local children's charities.
The local beneficiary of $12,299.29 will be the play grounds at the new school on South Hill, Coteau Hills and Our Lady of Hope Schools. Any additional funds raised will be go to RMHC to build new Ronald McDonald Houses in Regina and Prince Albert.
Highway Hotline continues to gain traction amongst Saskatchewan motorists
