City regulations cover everything from firepit size and placement to propane safety and permit requirements, with fines possible for violations.

These rules are outlined in Estevan’s Fire Prevention Bylaw (Bylaw No. 2004-1666), which applies to all open-air fires, propane use and firework displays within city limits.

Long weekend forecast calls for people to keep an eye on the sky with small, unsettled chance for thunderstorms

Saskatchewan is preparing for the long weekend, which is coming up soon, with plenty of people hoping to get some relaxation in and see some beautiful weather in the forecast. While that may appear ideal at first, the current conditions may change drastically over the next few days.

Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Crawford Luke says that, looking generally at the weekend, conditions will be average.

Moisture declines despite rain in latest southeast crop report

Southeast Saskatchewan experienced a mix of scattered showers and hail over the past week, but despite some localized rainfall, producers say more consistent moisture is needed to protect crops and support livestock as temperatures climb, according to the latest crop report from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Producers are hoping for continued rainfall to help lessen the impact of anticipated heat on crop yields, support hayland regrowth, and improve pasture conditions for livestock.

Union vote on Canada Post contract offer set to wrap up Friday afternoon

Unionized workers at Canada Post are entering their final day to vote on the Crown corporation's latest contract offer.

Voting is set to wrap up today at 5 p.m., with results expected to be shared shortly after.

The offer includes wage hikes of about 13 per cent over four years but also adds part-time workers that Canada Post has said are necessary to keep the postal service afloat.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has urged the roughly 55,000 postal service workers it represents to reject the proposal.

Trump hits Canada with 35 per cent tariffs

Canada was hit with 35 per cent tariffs on Friday after U.S. President Donald Trump followed through on his threat to increase the duties if Ottawa didn't make a trade deal.

The White House has said the tariffs would not affect goods compliant with the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement on trade, commonly known as CUSMA.

Prime Minister Mark Carney had tempered expectations of an agreement by Friday, saying Ottawa will only agree to a deal "if there's one on the table that is in the best interests of Canadians."
