The Canada Post strike involving more than 55,000 workers has hit 25 days.

In a statement Sunday, Canada Post says it is awaiting a formal response from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers to the proposal it submitted to the union Friday.

In a Friday statement, the union said it was reviewing what Canada Post put forward and questioned when the mediation process will officially resume.

The union said it is committed to returning to the bargaining table.

Icy system leaves southeast with slippery layer on roadways, sidewalks

The southeast is coming down from a major system over the weekend that left much of the province covered in ice and snow this morning.

The deceptively-snowy ground has seen a layer of ice settle on top thanks toa combination of the precipitation and unusually warm weather.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins talks about the storm and what the area saw.

Rural buses cancelled for southeast schools due to icy conditions

The freezing rain that fell in the southeast continues to wreak havoc on the area. With highways around the area seeing icy, slick conditions with some blowing snow affecting visibility, the Southeast Cornerstone School Division has cancelled rural school bus routes. 

As of now, the following routes have been cancelled for the morning: 

4-H Alberta receives funding to help attract youth into agriculture

A new investment in 4-H Alberta will offer the province’s youth new opportunities to get into agriculture.

New support will help 4-H Alberta bridge the gap between urban and rural kids and develop safety and mental health programming.

Through Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) funding, the governments of Canada and Alberta are investing more than $731,000 over five years for three 4-H Alberta programs. 

Saskatchewan leads nation in export growth

Saskatchewan saw the strongest month-over-month growth in international merchandise exports among Canadian provinces in October, according to the latest data from Statistics Canada.

The province's exports increased by 21.7 per cent in October compared to September, reaching $4.3 billion. Merchandise exports reflect the dollar value of goods sold internationally, excluding services.

CAA details top 10 worst driving behaviors from national survey

According to a recent national survey from CAA, there are a lot of speeders out there. 

Seventy per cent of Canadians in the self-reporting survey admitted to speeding in a residential area at least once in the past year and half said they regularly speed on the highway.

Twenty per cent said they regularly drive well over the speed limit.

Province details newest expansion of fibre internet to rural communities

Sasktel is announcing its new expansions coming to rural areas for fibre internet.

The expansions, happening through their infiNET program, will see faster internet made available in the communities of Buena Vista, Clavet, Foam Lake, Grand Coulee, Kinookimaw, Lampman, Maidstone, Regina Beach, Rockglen, Shellbrook and Waldheim.

Saskatchewan leads nation with lowest unemployment rate

Saskatchewan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in November was 5.6 per cent, well below the national average of 6.8 per cent, according to the latest labour force figures from Statistics Canada.

The province added 8,400 jobs year-over-year last month, with full-time employment rising by 5,900 positions, an increase of 1.2 per cent. Female employment grew by 4,600 jobs (1.7 per cent), while male employment was up 3,700 (1.2 per cent).
