Kyle RCMP investigates suspicious activity and public safety concerns

Kyle RCMP dealt with a series of public safety calls last week, including suspicious person reports, abandoned vehicles, and well-being checks.

On September 7, the RCMP received a report of a suspicious person in the RM of St. Andrews, which remains under investigation. Officers also assisted with a well-being check at Sask Landing Provincial Park on September 8.

Other calls included a complaint about an abandoned vehicle at a local business and numerous driving complaints on Highway 7 regarding unsafe passing behaviour.

TikTok to Treasures: Weyburn keychain library becomes a community hit

This summer, one Weyburn family decided to bring a unique experience to the Opportunity City.  

“This summer we’ve been doing a pretty fun thing in our family with the keychain library outside of our house,” said Jessica Hunter, the woman behind this initiative. “We got the idea off of TikTok, from an artist named Mike Bennett, who started it in Portland and we thought we’d bring it to Weyburn.”

Back and Forth Battle Ends in OT Loss for Broncos

The Swift Current Broncos pushed the Brandon Wheat Kings to the limit in a high-scoring, back-and-forth affair Friday night, but ultimately fell 6-5 in overtime in their fourth game of the WHL pre-season.

Brandon wasted little time getting on the board, as Merrek Arpin opened the scoring just 1:50 into the first period with an assist from Ryan Boyce. Jimmy Egan doubled the lead at the 8:32 mark before Swift Current responded on the powerplay. William Morin converted at 13:05 with help from Trae Wilke and Daxon Yerex to bring the Broncos within one heading into the second.

Anand says Canada summoned Russian ambassador over drone incursion into Poland

Global Affairs Canada summoned Russian ambassador Oleg Stepanov over the incursion of Russian drones into Poland this week, as Ottawa looks to help a new effort by the NATO military alliance reinforce its eastern flank.

The summoning occurred hours after Poland reported multiple Russian drones had entered Polish territory between Tuesday and Wednesday. NATO allies shot down some of the devices.

Apartment and combine fires keep Rosetown RCMP busy

Rosetown RCMP responded to multiple incidents last week, including fires, mischief complaints, and traffic concerns, according to a media release.

On September 9, members attended an apartment complex fire in Rosetown and later responded to a combine fire in the RM of Monet. A motor vehicle rollover near Harris resulted in minor injuries, but the driver was cleared by EMS.
