Airdrie motorists can expect the wet snow to continue Tuesday morning, with up to two centimetres accumulating. Gusting winds may make commuting this morning slower than usual.

Although earlier Tuesday morning, the QEII towards Calgary city limits was reported to have good driving conditions, conditions are now being reported as partly covered in snow, with slush and icy sections, including icy wheel paths. Similarly, winter road conditions have been reported north of Airdrie on the QEII.

An avalanche near Crowsnest Pass has prompted a timely warning from Avalanche Canada.

According to Southwest Alberta Regional Search and Rescue, three people triggered a slab avalanche in the Coleman area on Sunday (Nov. 3).

One member of the group was buried as a result, though the other two were able to dig them out.

The group called for safety using a satellite messenger device, and rescue personnel were able to locate them and take them to safety.

The High River RCMP are offering some tips on keeping items from being pilfered.

First and foremost, they suggest people lock up their vehicles as lots of break-ins happen when vehicles are unlocked.

It's also advised to double-check to make sure all the doors and windows are secured to make sure the items in the car stay where they are.

On top of that, they are reminding people to never leave keys or key fobs in the vehicle and to either remove all valuables from the vehicle or move them so they cannot be seen if they have to remain in the vehicle.

The Town of Okotoks is wanting to upgrade its downtown core, but they would like some input.

They have gathered input from feedback provided by both businesses and the community this past summer, and now they are wanting to share more information on the Downtown's Next Chapter initiative.

Now, the Town is asking for the community to become involved again and attend an open house or engage with this project online to provide further input.

The provincial government is offering some grants to help fight racism and promote multiculturalism in the province.

They are providing up to $13.5 million over three years to help support community organizations and Indigenous communities while they promote the value and benefit of multiculturalism and intercultural connections through two grants.

Their Ethnocultural Grant Program will support community-led initiatives that promote multicultural diversity and foster inclusivity.

While it wasn't easy to earn, it was easy to understand why Revolution Automotive won its SCBEX Award. 

The 2024 Start Up/ New Business SCBEX Award was presented to both Montana Gamel and Brandi Baron. The two co-founders of the automotive shop were ecstatic to have been recognized for their efforts in the community by their peers. 

"We feel honoured," said Gamel. "The community stood behind us from the very beginning, and they obviously appreciate the stuff we're doing."

On Saturday the Airdrie Public Library held a World War I Living History Exhibition that showcased reenactors from the Alberta World War Living History Association.

The reenactors demonstrated the daily routines, equipment, and tactics used by soldiers during World War I.

Jamieson Gardiner, the Digital Literacy and Team Programmer for the Airdrie Public Library explained the three reenactors represented the Black Watch Highlanders regiment that was recruited from the Alberta area.

Well-known actor, Henry Winkler, best known for his role as The Fonz in the American sitcom Happy Days is in Winnipeg filming alongside Lena Headey and Bob Odenkirk in the upcoming movie Normal.

Henry has been cast as the mayor in the crime thriller, while Odenkirk plays a man named Ulysses, a temporary sheriff in the town of Normal and Game of Thrones star, Lena Headey plays a local bartender. 

The popular actor told his fans his thoughts on the city via a post on X.

"So happy here in Winnipeg," said Winkler. 

The Horizon School Division has announced their current enrolment numbers for students from PreKindergarten to Grade 12. 

As of September 30, there are 6,701 students enrolled within the school division. This includes 179 home-school students not otherwise enrolled in a Horizon school.
