Steinbach Community Christmas starts waiting list after receiving 1,425 requests

The Steinbach Community Christmas initiative has officially reached its budgeted goal of 1,425 registered families for the upcoming holiday season. While registration will continue until November 30th, families who register after the cap is hit will now be placed on a waiting list.

Steinbach and other communities urged to step up amid rising addiction crisis in Manitoba

Adult & Teen Challenge of Central Canada is urgently seeking financial support from municipalities, including Steinbach, to address a growing funding shortfall. The non-profit organization, which provides addiction recovery services, is facing a $750,000 deficit and is at risk of being unable to meet the increasing demand for its programs. 

In a letter sent to Steinbach City Council, Daniel Emond, President and CEO, emphasized the urgency of the situation. 

Lacombe hoping to attract film productions with new policy

Lacombe City Council approved a new Film Policy to legislate, promote, and encourage film productions within the community. 

The Policy establishes a framework for managing and coordinating film production activities. It supports film industry growth, ensures minimal disruption to residents and businesses during filming, and promotes Lacombe as a film-friendly location. 

Gravel truck and sanding truck collision leaves Winnipeg man dead

A Winnipeg man is dead following a two-vehicle collision on Monday afternoon. 

On Nov. 25, 2024, at approximately 3:10 p.m., Stonewall RCMP was called to a collision at the intersection of Highway 7 and Road 73 N, located south of Stony Mountain.

When officers arrived to the scene, they learned a collision between a gravel truck and a sanding truck had taken place. 

The investigation determined that the sanding truck was travelling westbound on Road 73 N, and entered the intersection when it hit the gravel truck that was going southbound. 

Semi stuck at the top of south hill by Sask Landing

Reports of a truck stuck at the top of the Sask Landing south hill are coming into Swift Current Online. 

Motorists travelling north of Swift Current on Highway 4 are being advised to use caution, as the road is being described as extremely icy. 

No word has been provided on any injuries or other vehicles that may be involved.

She’ll be at the College on Thursday, November 28 at 7:00 pm.  

Snowfall over the next couple days to usher in freezing air into the southeast

The southeast is about to deal with more snow as a system is about to pass through and leave some more snow in the area.

That's expected to last both today and tomorrow, dropping around 2 to 4 centimetres.

Unlike the weekend's storms, which dropped a good amount of snow and brought heavy wind, Environment Canada Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins says that this one will be softer.
