Two families and the aviation community are in mourning, after a tragic plane crash earlier this week.
At 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, emergency services were notified of the wreckage of two small, single-engine aircraft in the Rural Municipality of Hanover.

Out-of-towner theft plot thwarted by Winkler Police
On July 3rd at approximately 8:13 p.m., Winkler Police received a complaint from a staff member at a local store concerning two females who exited the store without paying for “a large amount of merchandise,” according to the service’s weekly police report.
According to the complainant, the pair fled with a third female waiting in a vehicle.

St. Malo Beach water quality returns to safe levels, advisory lifted
St. Malo Beach is back to regular levels of bacteria after a brief spike earlier this month, and a swimming advisory that was in place has been lifted.
The Manitoba government sets a recreational water quality guideline of 200 E. coli per 100mL of water. On July 2, St. Malo Beach tested at 315 E. coli per sample, with levels increasing to 404 on July 7.
St. Anne’s church reopens after major restoration
The iconic Red River log church nestled in the prairie just west of Poplar Point is looking particularly polished these days. After nearly two years of careful restoration work, St. Anne’s Anglican Church, built in 1859 and still holding regular services, has reopened its doors.
The first post-renovations service took place on June 8th, and tomorrow, July 13th, marks the second since the $24,000 exterior project was completed. For long-time church warden Monica Griffiths, it's been a long time coming.
Emergency crews respond to fire south of Okotoks
Emergency crews were on scene of a fire south of Okotoks Friday evening around 8 p.m.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
Smoke could be seen from several kilometres away.
An update is expected.
Increasing presence of E.Coli closes southwest beach
The Saskatchewan Health Authority is keen to advise lake-goers and residents of Cypress Hills about harmful bacteria in Loch Leven.
Loch Leven beach, located in Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, is closed until further notice due to a rising E.Coli presence in the water.
The closure includes a temporary ban on swimming and fishing as the water may pose a health risk.

Guthrie challenges health scandal probe, fuels momentum for PC revival
Airdrie-Cochrane MLA Peter Guthrie continues to express no confidence in the third-party investigation led by retired Manitoba judge Raymond Wyant, whom Premier Danielle Smith’s administration appointed to look into allegations of corruption in health care contracts.
Guthrie says the information being shared with Wyant is controlled by the Smith administration and believes the ongoing investigations by the RCMP and Alberta’s Auditor General will be more revealing.
