Thick fog blankets Moose Jaw and area this morning
A heads-up for those hitting the road in and around Moose Jaw this morning: a thick blanket of fog is present across much of the area and could pose an issue for commuters. No warning has been issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada at this point; however, visibility should improve as the morning progresses.
Record production and sales loom as Beiseker plant nears biggest output
Replenish Nutrients Holding Corp. says upgrades at its Beiseker fertilizer plant are 90 per cent complete and the facility is on track to deliver the highest production and sales in the company’s history.
The company said the Beiseker site has achieved ~125 tonnes per week during commissioning and is scaling toward 2,000 tonnes per month, or about 500 tonnes per week, once additional shifts are added for 24-hour operations. Remaining work includes final automation, conveyance and electrical systems.
Harvest progresses in Humboldt area, Province behind seasonal average
Harvest is moving forward in the Humboldt region, with 27 per cent of crops now combined. Progress varies locally, with census divisions ranging from 24 to 31 per cent complete.
Scattered rainfall caused minor delays in parts of the region. Porcupine Plain recorded the highest amount with 18 millimetres, while Arborfield received 16 and Kelvington 13. Most other areas saw less than a centimetre of precipitation, and some fields received none at all.
Webb ready to welcome automotive crowd in second annual car show
The community out in Webb is gearing up for the second-ever Community Car Show.
The car show is free to attend and free to enter. However, Whitney does ask that people preregister by contacting him at danewhtiney15@gmail.com
Organized by Dane Whitney and the Old Guys Card Club, the goal is to hopefully have as many cars in attendance as there were the first go around.
"We had such good success last year with attendants and people enjoying themselves, we decided to put it on again this year," said Whitney.
Anne Oake Recovery Centre one step closer as province finalizes lease
The Anne Oake Recovery Centre is one step closer to reality.
On Thursday, the province announced it has signed a long-term lease agreement for the future site of the new facility, which will be dedicated to supporting women and families on their journey to recovery.
The 75,000-sq.-ft. centre will include 50 to 70 treatment beds and a licensed child-care facility to help keep mothers close to their children while receiving care.
Prairie Pride Credit Union BBQs support local causes
Prairie Pride Credit Union wrapped up its three-part community BBQ series, raising funds for important local organizations across its branch communities.
General Manager Dean Copeland said giving back is central to their mission as a cooperative. “It’s actually in our mission statement, being devoted to people and communities,” he explained.
Gallery: High River’s newest tree art carving complete
High River’s newest tree carving is now complete.
Artist Darren Jones was selected to carve the tree in Group Campground B in George Lane Park.
The project features foxes, an owl, and a whimsical fairy castle carved into the trunk of a poplar tree.
Jones completed the project in the first week of September.

The Airdrie Urban Farm Collective is seeking a new location for next year.
Once this growing season ends, the collective must move out of their current spot at the Daybreak Community Church.
