Probation, fines and new charges handed down in Kindersley court, June 3

A man has been sentenced to probation and more than $1,000 in fines after pleading guilty to vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

Jeffery Proteau pleaded guilty to one count of motor vehicle theft and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. He received a one-year probation order and was fined a total of $1,020.

The charges stem from an incident in October 2024, when Proteau was seen on a rural property taking a Ford F-350 truck and leaving behind a Jeep. The Jeep was later confirmed to have been reported stolen out of Kerrobert.

Pair booked with charges following robbery, assault on Moosomin First Nation

Battlefords RCMP handed out charges to a pair of individuals from North Battleford after an all-day investigation on Tuesday.

Officers immediately responded to a residence on Moosomin First Nation following a reported assault, where it was determined that the individuals in question used a firearm and bear-spray to forcibly rob the victim before escaping shortly after in a truck. 

Kindersley court hears guilty pleas, sets trial dates in multiple cases. May 6

Derek Webster-Dinney, 33, pleaded guilty to operation while prohibited and theft. He received a 14-month conditional sentence order, which includes a curfew, 20 hours of community service, and restitution of $928 to Kindersley Castle Building Centre for unrecovered stolen items.

Progress was made in the combined Cisna, Finlay and Nernberg case. All three accused elected trial by provincial court judge. Trial dates were scheduled for October 27 to 31 and November 3 to 5. A case management conference between defense counsel and the Crown is set for May 9.

Luseland Police conclude credit card, forgery investigation

An investigation stemming from December 4, 2024, in Luseland has come to a close.

Luseland Police Service, in partnership with neighbouring RCMP detachments, arrested 41-year-old Shawn Hartnell back on April 22. Hartnell was charged with two counts of credit card theft and forgery after a pair of fraudulent transactions at a local business.

Fraud case concludes in Kindersley Court, April 29

A major fraud case concluded in Kindersley Provincial Court this week, while several others were adjourned to later dates in May.

Lyndsay Neumeier, 42, pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud and received a conditional sentence of two years. The first eight months will be served under house arrest, followed by a curfew and 200 hours of community service. Neumeier was also ordered to pay $71,405 in restitution over the next 15 years and an $800 victim surcharge.
