Hamiota's Kirk thrilled after trade lands him closer to home with Titans

The MJHL's Neepawa Titans swung a deal that adds 20-year-old Ty Kirk to their team for the upcoming season and the Hamiota product couldn't be happier to be playing closer to home.

"It was a really exciting moment," Kirk says about finding out he was being traded to Neepawa. "It was all fast and smooth. Thrilled to be closer to home with my family being able to watch me more, it'll be good."

U11 Winkler Nitro bring home gold from recent playdowns

The U11 Winkler Nitro captured gold in their recent playdowns and coach Dwayne Wall couldn't be prouder of his group.

"We had our playdown tournament in Carberry," explains Wall. "We worked hard and we came out with a gold medal. We played some good competition over the weekend. Our team played really well, we played our best ball at the right time of the year. We won our three round robin games and that led us to a Winkler vs Winkler final. We had a tight, close game but our girls persevered and we came out one top."

Rage keep playoff hopes alive with 13–5 win over Stingers

The Rocky View Rage Jr. B Tier II lacrosse team earned a crucial win on June 22 to keep their slim RMLL playoff hopes alive.

Carson Barrows scored six goals and Deegan Reutlinger added five in a 13–5 domination of the Mountain View Stingers. The win came two days after a heartbreaking 11–9 loss to the Calgary Axemen, who scored twice in the final minute to steal the victory.

57's pile up runs in weekend victories

An offensive explosion from the Swift Current 57's in the WCBL this weekend.

They scored 40 runs in two games as they collected two needed wins.

Luis Ayala went 4 for 6 with 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored in a 15-10 win over Moose Jaw on Friday.

Silas Hilton went 3 for 6 with 4 RBIs in the win.

Ryker Ratcliff got the win on the mound.

Wilmer Henriquez went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs and 5 runs scored in a 25-15 win over Weyburn on Saturday.

Checkers win OT thriller, force Game 6 in Charlotte

The Calder Cup Final is heading back to Charlotte after the Checkers edged the Abbotsford Canucks 4-3 in overtime last night.

In front of the largest home crowd in Canucks history, a back-and-forth battle was knotted 3-3 after regulation. Jesse Puljujärvi ended it at 15:22 of overtime when a centring pass deflected off two defenders’ skates and slid past the goalie.

It was Charlotte’s second overtime win of the series.

Cochrane’s Ty Mueller picked up an assist on Linus Karlsson’s 13th goal of the playoffs.
