Allan Flames win 2024-25 Twin Rivers Hockey League championship
The Allan Flames are the 2024-25 Twin Rivers Hockey League champions.
On Friday night, the Flames finished off the championship series defeating the Willow Cree Chiefs 8-4 and winning the series 3-1.
Cody Pongracz scored a hat-trick and added two assists. Keith Mitchell also had a hat-trick and added an assist. Brodie Senger chipped in with two goals and an assist.
Broncos enter must-win territory in series against Bombers
The Humboldt Broncos season is on the line tonight.
For the first time, the Broncos will be facing elimination after the Flin Flon Bombers picked up a dominating 9-0 win on Saturday to get a 3-2 series lead.
Nine different Bomber players contributed to the scoresheet.
Quiet opening draw on third day of BKT Wold Men’s Curling Championship
It was a quiet morning at the BTK World Men’s Curling Championship at the Temple Gardens Centre on Monday.
Only three of four sheets were in action with Canada having the morning off.
The European champion Germans picked up their first win of the tournament, downing Austria 9-3.
Switzerland picked up a 8-5 win over Japan and Italy won 7-5 over Czechia.
This afternoon will feature two of the top teams as Canada will take on Scotland.
Road Warriors: Red Wings look to close out the series on the road in Game 6 against North Stars
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings are on the road once again for Game 6 of the SJHL playoff quarterfinals tonight against the Battlefords North Stars. The Red Wings lead the series 3-2, and have the chance to advance to the second round on the road against the North Stars. Besides the 4-3 win at Crescent Point Place on Game 1, the last 4 games have been won by the visiting team. A deviation from the normal that head coach and general manager, Cody Mapes, is fine with given the Red Wings success on the road.
Southeast Gold Wings secure first-ever provincials win
The u18 Southeast Apex Gold Wings have claimed the first provincial title in their history, after staging a comeback in Game three on the weekend.
Previously, the team had a rough start, losing to their opponents, the Warman Wildcats, 3-1 on Friday, March 21.
They managed to come back later in the weekend with a win on Sunday, March 23, 4-2, tying up the series.
The two teams then met yesterday to determine who would take home the title.
The Warman Wildcats came out strong, taking early lead with two goals in the first that went unanswered.
Wranglers look to ride playoff success into provincial tournament
After capturing the HJHL Championship last week, the Sylvan Lake Wranglers will be competing in the Alberta Junior B Provincial tournament in Morinville.
For the Wranglers, it was their first HJHL title since 2010 and first championship since moving to Sylvan Lake. Sylvan Lake only lost one game during their playoff run.
Redvers Rockets claim Senior D Provincial championship
The Redvers Rockets managed to split a weekend and claim a title as they were crowned the Senior D provincial champions on Sunday.
The weekend started off on a bad note on Saturday when the Rockets fell in their second game of the series against the Edam 3 Stars.
The Stars secured a 2-0 lead in the third period, before the Rockets managed to climb back out of the hole and tie the game up 2-2. Another goal by the Stars with just under five minutes left sealed the game 3-2 and tied up the series.
Klippers season over after Game 5 loss in Melfort
The Kinderlsey Jr. Klippers season ended on Saturday night inside the Northern Lights Palace Arena after a 5-2 loss to the Melfort Mustangs.
After an overtime win last Wednesday kept their season alive, the league's top team in the Mustangs proved their mite Saturday to clinch the series in five games.
U18 AA Gold Wings take provincial title
The U18 AA Apex Gold Wings are provincial champions.
The Gold Wings doubled up the Warman Wildcats 4-2 Sunday afternoon at the Harry O Memorial Arena in Midale to win the third and final game of the series. The win is the first provincial title in team history.

Canada is off to a hot start at the BKT World Men's Curling Championship at the Temple Gardens Centre. Canada sits atop the standings, undefeated with a 3-0 record. They have a bye for this morning's draw but will be back on the ice at 2 p.m. to take on the number 1 ranked Team Scotland.
