At the Monday, February 10, 2025, Regular City Council Meeting, some of the topics discussed were diverse housing options, municipal controls and citizen representatives to the Audit Committee.

Bulldogs to wear new jerseys next season; team auctioning off game-worn uniforms
The Blackfalds Bulldogs are getting three new sets of jerseys for the 2025/26 season.
The official announcement of the brand and visual will be announced later this summer.
The team will be auctioning off all original CCM game-worn jerseys and additional collectable ones. Home and away jerseys will be auctioned off later in March.
Bulldogs pick up Surrey forward for future considerations
The Blackfalds Bulldogs have acquired 2006-born forward Dean Toskos from the Surrey Eagles in exchange for future considerations.
Toskos has 6 goals and 6 assists in 36 games played this season.
He stands at five-foot-eleven, weighs 165 pounds, and has a Division I NCAA commitment to College of the Holy Cross.
Last season, the Oakland, New Jersey product played on the Jersey Hitmen 18U AAA team and Don Bosco Prep team.
Icy roads creating havoc for Central Alberta drivers; multiple collisions reported
Icy road conditions have resulted in several vehicle collisions across Central Alberta this morning, including the shutdown of the QEII southbound near Red Deer.
There have also been collisions reported near Ponoka and Sylvan Lake.
A fresh layer of snow overnight has led to the poor road conditions.

Trudeau says Canada will push back on U.S. tariffs with Trump administration
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Ottawa will work to convince U.S. President Donald Trump that his steel and aluminum tariffs will hurt both countries.
A senior government official said Tuesday that Trudeau spoke with U.S. Vice-President JD Vance about the impact steel tariffs would have in Ohio, which Vance previously represented in the U.S. Senate.
Trump signed an executive order Monday to implement 25 per cent tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports into the United States, beginning March 12.
Trudeau and Vance are both in Paris for a global summit on AI.
National Crisis Line Launched to Support Canadian Farmers’ Mental Health
The Canadian Centre for Agricultural Wellbeing recently launched a new initiative to support the mental health of Canadian farmers, their families, and agricultural workers. The National Farmer Wellness Network Crisis Line is a free, confidential, 24/7 mental health support tailored specifically to the agricultural community.
The idea behind the crisis line is to ensure that farmers across the country have access to farm-specific crisis services delivered by licensed professionals trained in the Canadian Agricultural Literacy Program (CALP).
Trump signs order imposing 25 per cent tariffs on steel and aluminum
Donald Trump has signed executive orders to slap 25 per cent tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports into the United States, including Canadian products, starting March 4 — the same deadline given to Canada to convince the U.S. president to halt his plan for across-the-board duties.
"It's a big deal. This is the beginning of making America rich again," Trump said as he signed the executive orders in the Oval Office.

A Central Alberta chapter of a national organization wants to help workers and families of workers who have been injured at the workplace.

Koe to represent Alberta at Brier after winning 2025 Boston Pizza Cup in Stettler
Kevin Koe of Calgary will represent Alberta at the 2025 Montana Brier after beating Evan Van Amsterdam of Edmonton Sunday afternoon in the finals of Boston Pizza Cup.
The event, which ran Feb. 5 - 9, was hosted by the Erskine Curling Club at the Stettler Recreation Centre.
Red Deer's Jan. unemployment rate tops amongst major Canadian cities
Statistics Canada's latest job numbers show that Red Deer has the highest unemployment rate amongst Canada's major cities.
Red Deer's January unemployment rate was sitting at 9.7 per cent, down from 10 per cent in December.
Meanwhile, unemployment rates in Calgary and Edmonton remained relatively steady.
Edmonton was at 7.2 per cent in January, down 0.3 per cent from December. Calgary dropped to 7.7 per cent in January from 8.1 per cent the month previous.
All three cities came in above the national average of 6.6 per cent.
