UPDATE: Highway 5 closed on Monday following multi-vehicle collision
RCMP and Humboldt First responders attended a collision incident at 12:30 pm yesterday on Highway 5, approximately 2 km west of Muenster.
A semi-truck and two vehicles were involved in a collision that shut down the highway for a period of time. Fire crews attended to deal with a blaze at the site. Traffic was diverted via grid roads through Muenster while the Highway was cleared.
One occupant was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
YIR- Humboldt District Hospital Foundation celebrates a year of enhancing services
As 2024 comes to a close, the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation (HDHF) is looking back on a year of significant advancements and strategic planning aimed at improving healthcare services for the community.
"2024 has been a strategic planning year for us," said Executive Director Lorrie Bunko. "We need to work with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and managers on site to determine the needs of the facility. From now, for about a three-year span, because that then helps us plan and budget accordingly."

Arts Humboldt (AH!), an organization dedicated to promoting the performing arts in Humboldt and surrounding areas, had a somewhat quieter year in 2024, but President Brian Grest remains optimistic about the future.
As AH! works to fully recover from the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Grest noted that 2024 served as a year of rebuilding. However, the organization still managed to bring several key events to the community.

Grinch reports and Santa sightings greeted folks in Humboldt on Saturday, along with a peculiar team-up in Muenster on Sunday evening.
The grumpy green one and some Whoville compatriots greeted visitors to the Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon for its annual market. Cindy Lou Who, faithful sidekick Max and the Grinch himself mugged for photos with a huge shopping crowd.
Heartbreaking search for Jaxon: family offers reward for stolen dog’s safe return
A Watson family continues to search desperately for their black Labrador, Jaxon, who was inside their stolen vehicle, a dark blue 2007 Jeep Compass, taken from the Watson Co-op grocery store parking lot on November 26 at 2:15 p.m. The Jeep, with Saskatchewan license plate 343MWW, was last seen heading toward Melfort on back roads.
Application period for Community Rink Affordability grant announced
Starting on January 6, Applications for the 2024-25 Community Rink Affordability Grant will open.
Communities, First Nations, schools and non-profit organizations are eligible and encouraged to register for the annual grant of $2,500 per indoor ice surface.
The grant helps offset the costs of operating indoor skating and curling rinks in Saskatchewan.
Emergency Services paused at Watrous Hospital
Beginning today (Dec.13), until Sunday, December 15 there will be a temporary disruption of emergency services at the Watrous Hospital.
During this time, there won’t be any emergency services at the Watrous Hospital.
Emergency services are available in Humboldt and Saskatoon.
