YIR - Cultural Services marks another year of innovative and engaging programs
Humboldt is becoming widely known for its active and vibrant arts scene, and a good part of that reputation is owing to the efforts of the staff and volunteers with the city’s Cultural Services Department.
Director Jennifer Fitzpatrick has sent along the following overview of the department's activities in 2024 with an invitation to watch for much more coming in 2025.
YIR - Muenster Elks 50th anniversary a highlight of another stellar year
With one of the largest memberships and most active lodges in western Canada, the Muenster Elks met challenges and leaned into helping individuals and organizations throughout the region in their 50th year.
“We had a fantastic year,” said Exalted Ruler Gord Kiefer.” We celebrated our 50th anniversary as an Elks chapter. We have a tremendous group and we’ve seen great support from Muenster and the area.”
Conexus Credit Union warns of scammers targeting Saskatchewan residents
Conexus Credit Union is warning Saskatchewan residents of a scam where fraudsters are calling and texting Saskatchewan numbers pretending to be Conexus.
In a release, the organization states that it has become aware of an increase in fraudulent calls and text messages. It also notes that scams mimicking financial institutions increase during the holiday season.
Reid Thompson Library works to eliminate pest problem
The Reid Thompson Library has been at odds with an invasive pest throughout the winter months, and the library is getting set to take action.
Bedbugs are small, wingless insects that prove to be more of a nuisance than a health hazard. Environment, Public Health and Safety with the Government of Saskatchewan states that the tiny creatures are not known to transmit disease, but their bites can cause itching or irritation.
Teachers await decision of the Arbitration Board in contract talks
Teachers in the province are awaiting the decision of the Arbitration Board tasked to come up with the award that forms the basis of a new teachers’ contract.
A release from the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation states that he binding arbitration hearing between the Teachers’ Bargaining Committee and Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee concluded just after 6 pm on Wednesday, December 18.

YIR- A very busy of year for the town of Bruno
As 2024 draws to an end, the town of Bruno has reflected on its accomplishments, celebrating strong community spirit and continued growth in recreational and civic projects. With the leadership of the town council and the dedication of local volunteers, the town has seen numerous events and developments that brought residents together and strengthened its services.
Workshop of RM of Grant No. 372 broken into with equipment gone missing
The workshop RM of Grant No. 372 in Vonda which also serves as the fire hall for the RM was recently broken into.
The incident occurred sometime between 5:00 pm of Monday, December 16 and 7:30 am of Tuesday, December 17.
Some equipment was stolen, and others were vandalized.
The tools are used for emergencies such as fires and vehicle extrication.
If you observed any suspicious activity during this time, you're asked to contact the RCMP.

From January to October of this year, the food bank saw an increase of 22 households, representing 91 people, a trend that has taken staff by surprise.
