The end of Paradise Inn Swift Current

Demolition is currently taking place at the Paradise Inn Hotel.

Located at 1200 South Service Road East in Swift Current, crews have been hard at work since yesterday to begin taking the structure down.

Swift Current Online will provide updates on new plans for the site as information becomes available.

 

 

Swift Current Broncos score a winning addition with new assistant coach

The Swift Current Broncos have made an exciting addition to their coaching staff with the appointment of Taras McEwan as the team's new assistant coach.  

McEwan brings a wealth of experience from his time with the Winnipeg Ice and is looking forward to contributing to the Broncos' success. 

Originally hailing from Whitewood, SK, McEwan's ties to Saskatchewan made the opportunity with the Broncos particularly appealing.  

Boat fire erupts on Lac Pelletier waters 

The RM of Swift Current Fire Department (RMSCFD) was dispatched to Lac Pelletier yesterday afternoon when a boat ignited on the water. 

RMSCFD Fire Chief Louis Cherpin noted that while details are still under investigation, it appears that an explosion occurred on the boat while it was in use.  

“From what I understand the users were using the boat and there was some sort of explosion on the boat,” he stated. 

Celestial celebration under Saskatchewan skies 

Night sky enthusiasts of Western Canada and the northern United States are gearing up for the 26 Annual Saskatchewan Summer Star Party, set to commence tomorrow in Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park.  

The event is known as a gathering of amateur astronomers and stargazing enthusiasts and is put on by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.
