Saskatchewan makes strides to fill gap in healthcare

Saskatchewan has been hard at work to develop a response plan for the healthcare shortage in the province.

One key factor in filling the gap was the recruitment of qualified employees from overseas.

As a part of the Health Human Resources (HHR) Action Plan, a recruitment mission, led by Saskatchewan’s Health Minister, Paul Merriman, was recently overseen in the Philippines.

Brighter nights with twinkling lights

Twinkling lights and holiday decorations can be seen dawning the streets of Swift Current as residents get in the holiday spirit.

The dazzling displays were encouraged by the City and Canadian Tire’s Deck the House competition, which residents were able to enter until December 15.

Mayor, Al Bridal, said that although there were a lot of stunning decorations, the first-place winner stood out to him significantly.

Extreme cold settles in

An extreme cold warning has been issued for the southwest area by Environment Canada.

Residents can expect extremely cold wind chill values of minus 40 overnight.

The extreme cold will continue throughout the week during the mornings and overnight.

The period of extreme cold is expected to moderate by the weekend.

Christmas comes early for Swift Current SPCA

Holiday spirit, toys, pet food, and other essential supplies filled the local animal shelter last week when they received a significant donation courtesy of Canadian Tire in Swift Current.

Tyler Lemieux, general manager of Canadian Tire, explained that the donation was part of a larger initiative that takes place throughout the month of December, which focuses on giving back and helping strengthen the community.
